TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

This vehicle uses a coil-on-plug electronic ignition system. The coil-on-plug ignition system consists of the following components

  1. powertrain control module (PCM)
  2. crankshaft position (CKP) sensor
  3. ignition coil-on-plug
  4. spark plugs (12405)

The PCM and the CKP sensor are also part of the electronic engine controls system. For additional information, refer to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS .

Eight separate ignition coils

  1. are controlled by the powertrain control module (PCM).
  2. are mounted directly above each spark plug.
  3. are controlled by the powertrain control module for the correct firing sequence.

The spark plugs

  1. change the high voltage pulse into a spark which ignites the fuel and air mixture.
  2. originally equipped on the vehicle have a platinum-enhanced active electrode for long life.

Refer to INTRODUCTION - CNG, FLEX-FUEL & GASOLINE .
