Power Mirrors: Other Ford Bronco V

Mirrors ~468 words

BOTH SIDE MIRRORS INOPERATIVE

  1. Check fuse in fuse panel. If defective, replace fuse. If fuse is okay, remove side mirror control and check for power across Light Green/Yellow wire using DVOM. Replace side mirror control and go to next step.
  2. Check for continuity in wire harness circuits. If continuity exists, remove front door trim panel and check harness connector to side mirror. Replace side mirror. If continuity does not exist, check continuity of circuits using DVOM. Trace continuity to connector and replace side mirror.
  3. Check circuit logic at side mirror control wiring connector. Is circuit logic at harness connector to side mirror with side mirror control operating okay? If yes, replace side mirror. If no, check continuity of circuits in side mirror control wiring to side mirror with side mirror control operational using DVOM. Check connector and trace along side mirror control wiring to determine cross circuitry location and connect.

AUTO-DIMMING MIRRORS INOPERATIVE

  1. Check Mirror Operation. Turn ignition on. Place transmission in Park. Set mirror sensitivity to high position (if adjustable). Cover photocell on backside of mirror with a dark cloth. Shine a flashlight on reflective side of mirror. If inside and left side mirrors darken, system is okay. If mirrors do not darken, go to next step.
  2. Check for backup signal between Black and Black/Pink wire at connector. If there is a signal, go to step 4. If there is not a signal, go to step 3.
  3. Check for short to ground or open in Black/Pink wire between auto-dimming mirror connector and park/neutral position switch. If circuit is okay, check park/neutral position switch for damage or wear. Replace switch and go to next step. If circuit is not okay, check for loose connectors or short to ground in Black/Pink wire. Repair/replace if necessary.
  4. Check fuse. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If automatic dimming mirror fuse is blown, replace fuse. If fuse repeatedly blows check mirror power circuit for short-to-ground. See «WIRING DIAGRAM»(ref-29078-S28131015182001010800000) .
  5. Remove connector from inside rear view mirror. Check for voltage at feed connector of inside rear view mirror connector. Turn ignition key to RUN and check for voltage between White/Pink and Black wire. If voltage does not exist, go to next step. If voltage exists carefully plug inside rear view mirror feed connector into back of inside rear view mirror and check for correct operation.
  6. Check for voltage between White/Pink and a good ground. If voltage exists repair/replace Black wire and go to next step. If voltage does not exist repair/replace White/Pink wire and go to next step.
  7. Reconnect inside rear view mirror. Go back to step 1 and check inside rear view mirror. If mirror glass darkens to non-reflective state, system is okay. If mirror glass does not darken to non-reflective state, replace inside rear view mirror.
