- Disconnect electric fan motor. Connect 12-volt battery negative lead to electric fan motor Black wire connector terminal. Connect battery positive lead to electric fan motor Tan wire connector terminal. Fan motor should operate at low speed.
- Connect positive lead to electric fan motor Yellow wire connector terminal. Fan motor should operate at high speed. Replace electric fan motor if it fails to operate properly.

- Locate and disconnect electric fan motor connector at motor. Connect jumper wire from positive terminal of battery to positive terminal of fan connector.
- Connect another jumper wire from negative battery terminal of fan connector. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-10848-S28397773792001011600000) . Replace fan motor if fan motor does not run. If fan motor runs, check fan relay, coolant temperature sensor and Powertrain Control Module (PCM). CAUTION: Check electric fan motor operation before checking fan relay and PCM. Ensure PCM is securely grounded.

- Check for loose connections on fan motor and at fan motor relay. If all connections are okay, fault codes must be checked. If no fault codes are present, go to next step.
- With ignition on and engine at normal operating temperature, check for battery voltage on both sides of cooling fan relay fuse. Cooling fan relay fuse and high and low speed fan relays are located in fuse/relay box in front of left strut tower. (Scheme 2)
- If battery voltage is not present, repair short or open in Red/Light Green wire circuit. If battery voltage is present, remove low speed or high speed fan motor relay. Using an ohmmeter, ensure continuity exists between terminals No. 1 and 3. (Scheme 3) If continuity does not exist, replace relay.
- Connect ohmmeter to relay terminals No. 2 and 4. Check continuity with and without battery connected. See «RADIATOR FAN RELAY CONTINUITY»(ref-10848-S10766001932001011600000) table. - To check radiator fan relay, turn ignition on and check for battery voltage at ignition switch circuit terminal at radiator fan relay. See «IGNITION SWITCH CIRCUIT WIRE COLOR IDENTIFICATION»(ref-10848-S18697537402001011600000) table. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If voltage is 0-1 volt, go to step 3).
- With ignition off, disconnect 60-pin connector from PCM. PCM is located on left front corner of engine compartment. Turn ignition on. Check for battery voltage at cavity No. 31 (Dark Blue/Pink wire) of connector. (Scheme 4) If battery voltage exists and female terminal is not damaged, replace PCM. If voltage does not exist, repair open or short in Dark Blue/Pink wire from radiator fan relay to PCM.
- With ignition off, disconnect 60-pin connector from PCM. PCM is located on left front corner of engine compartment. Turn ignition on. Check for battery voltage at proper wire color of radiator fan relay. See «IGNITION SWITCH CIRCUIT WIRE COLOR IDENTIFICATION»(ref-10848-S18697537402001011600000) table. If battery voltage exists, replace PCM. If voltage reading is 0-1 volt, go to next step.
- With ignition on, test for battery voltage at Dark Blue/Pink wire at radiator fan relay. If battery voltage exists, replace radiator fan relay. If voltage does not exist, repair open or short in Dark Blue/Pink wire between radiator fan relay and PCM. Turn ignition off, reconnect 60-pin connector to PCM and test system.
