DESCRIPTION & OPERATION
All models use a 2 motor system. Pop-up motors are located beside headlight assembly and attached with actuator rod. (Scheme 1) Headlight pop-up motors have manual override thumbwheels to open or close headlight doors if failure occurs. Remove rubber cover from top of each pop-up motor and turn thumbwheel to raise or lower headlight door.
When no failure is present, headlight doors can be raised or lowered without headlights illuminating by activating headlight pop-up switch located on left side of dash. Headlight system features an automatic shutoff system. With headlights on, system will turn all lights off when driver's door is opened with ignition in OFF position. Also lights will turn off when ignition is turned off when driver's door is already open.
Headlight system is controlled by a Electronic Timer Alarm Control System (ETACS). The ETACS module is located behind driver's lower dash panel. Current flows from fuse No. 6 to headlight switch, headlight relay, pop-up switch, ETACS module, pop-up motor relay and automatic light shutoff unit.
