SYSTEM TESTS
| CAUTION | When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery. |
ANTENNA MOTOR DOESN'T EXTEND OR RETRACT
- Is the radio power switch ON? If not, switch it on. If yes, proceed to next step.
- Is voltage (approximately 12 volts) emitted to radio's motor antenna terminal? If not, repair or replace radio. If yes, proceed to next step.
- Is the antenna bent? If yes, repair bend or replace antenna. See «ANTENNA POLE»(ref-142142-S36016196312002071900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If not, proceed to next step.
- Is the antenna relay OK? If not, replace antenna relay. If yes, proceed to next step.
- Is the antenna motor OK? If not, replace motor. See «ANTENNA MOTOR»(ref-142142-S06604915592002071900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If yes, repair harness.
ANTENNA DOESN'T RECEIVE
- Is antenna continuity OK? See «ANTENNA CONTINUITY»(ref-142142-S13655474392002072200000) . If not, repair or replace antenna. See «ANTENNA MOTOR»(ref-142142-S06604915592002071900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If yes, proceed to next step.
- Is operation normal when a new antenna assembly is directly installed into radio? If not, check for problem with radio. If yes, replace feeder cable. See «ANTENNA FEEDER CABLE»(ref-142142-S40389052152002071900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

ANTENNA CONTINUITY
For ohmmeter locations (Scheme 12)
| Ohmmeter Measurement Locations | Result |
|---|---|
| Circuits From F To A, B, C, D & E | Continuity |
| Circuits Between G & H | Continuity |
| Circuits From H To A, B, C, D & E | No Continuity |
TESTING ANTENNA CONTINUITY
Scheme 12
Up/Down
Disconnect motor antenna control unit connector. Connect positive terminal of power supply to terminal 1 and negative terminal to terminal 4 to check that antenna goes up, and when connections are reversed, antenna goes down. (Scheme 13)
Scheme 13
Voltage
For location of antenna motor voltage terminals (Scheme 14)
- Connect harness connector to motor antenna.
- Disconnect antenna motor connector.
- With ignition switch in ACC or ON, operate radio switch and check voltage between terminals during period when antenna is going up or down.
| Antenna Operating Direction | Terminals To Check | Voltage (V) |
|---|---|---|
| Down | 1-3 | 10-13 |
| Up | 3-4 | 10-13 |
