- Remove carburetor from engine and gently clamp in a vise with the adjusting screw facing up. Be careful to protect gasket surface from vise jaws.
- Drill a 5/64" (2 mm) pilot hole in the casting surrounding the idle mixture adjusting screw. Redrill hole to 1/8" (3 mm). (Scheme 4) Insert a blunt punch into the hole and drive out the concealment plug. Reinstall carburetor.
- Turn lights and accessories off. Place transmission in Neutral. Run engine until normal operating temperature is reached. Turn ignition off and disconnect negative battery cable for 3 seconds. Reconnect negative battery cable and disconnect wiring harness at oxygen sensor.
- Run engine for more than 5 seconds at 2000-3000 RPM. Run engine at idle speed for more than 2 minutes. Set engine idle speed and idle CO to specified values by adjusting the idle speed screw and the idle mixture screw.
- Reconnect oxygen sensor. If engine idle speed is outside specified speed range, reset speed to correct value using idle speed screw. Reinstall concealment plug to seal idle mixture screw.
