5.2L & 5.9L V8
Note. Inspect oil drain hole and plug threads for leaks or damage. After oil pan is removed, use a straightedge to inspect sealing surface flange for flatness. Oil pan must be replaced if it cannot be repaired.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove engine oil dipstick. Raise and support vehicle. Drain engine oil and replace drain plug.
- Remove exhaust crossover pipe. Remove left engine-to-transmission support strut. Remove oil pan retaining bolts and separate oil pan from engine.
- Before installation, apply RTV sealer to corners of rubber seal and cork gasket. (Scheme 36) On 5.9L engines, ensure notches on side gaskets align with notches located at flywheel end on engine block.
