CHECKING POWER & GROUND

Note. Driver's window switch has 2 connectors. Gray connector is for operation of passenger's window and Black connector is for operation of driver's window. Ground circuits for passenger's window switch runs through driver's window switch.

  1. Remove inoperative window switch. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 4 (Tan wire) at appropriate switch harness connector. (Scheme 2) If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, check 30-amp circuit breaker behind fuse block. Check for open or short in wiring. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-25124-S22975589862001010500000).
  2. Turn ignition off. Check continuity between ground and terminals No. 7 (Black/Yellow wire), No. 2 (Black/Violet wire at both driver's window switch connectors; Violet/White wire at passenger's window switch connector) and No. 3 (Black/Violet wire at both driver's window switch connectors; Brown/White wire at passenger's window switch connector) at appropriate switch harness connector. If continuity exists, check power window switch. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-25124-S16374810002001010500000) under COMPONENT TESTS. If continuity does not exist, repair open in appropriate wire. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-25124-S22975589862001010500000).

POWER WINDOW MOTOR

  1. Remove door trim panel. See «DOOR TRIM PANEL»(ref-25124-S07323938272001010500000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect window motor connector. Using jumper wires, apply battery voltage to one window motor terminal and ground to other terminal. Motor should operate, unless window is already at maximum travel. Reverse jumper wires. Window should move in opposite direction.
  2. If window does not move in either direction, check window/regulator for freedom of movement. Remove screws holding glass lift plate to regulator. Slide window up and down by hand to ensure it moves freely in glass channels. If window slides freely, check regulator assembly. Repair window/regulator as necessary. If window slides freely and window/regulator is okay, replace window motor. See «WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-25124-S41888908712001011000000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

POWER WINDOW SWITCH

Remove power window switch. Check continuity between appropriate switch terminals with switch in appropriate position. See WINDOW SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST table. (Scheme 2) If continuity is not as specified, replace appropriate power window switch. See WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

WINDOW MOTOR

Move window to up position, if possible. Remove door trim panel. See DOOR TRIM PANEL . Remove water shield. Remove speaker screws and move speaker for motor access. Pivot motor out of door panel. Remove screws retaining drive cable to motor. Remove motor. To install, reverse removal procedure.
