1. Raise vehicle on hoist.
2. Remove bolt (1) from lower part of PTU heat shield (2).
3. Using a long prybar remove the retaining clip (1) from the side of the PTU heat shield (2). NOTE: Position the PTU heat shield aside as necessary
4. Remove PTU drain plug (1). Drain fluid into suitable container.
5. Install drain plug (1) and torque to 35 N.m (26 ft. lbs.).
6. A 10 mm hex bit 7/8" long (1) and a ratcheting box angle wrench (2) will be required to remove the PTU fill plug. NOTE: Position the PTU heat shield aside as necessary
7. Using the ratcheting box angle wrench (1) and hex bit (3) remove the PTU fill plug (2).
8. Use a gear lube pump (1) to fill PTU with .8L (1.7 Pints.) of Mopar® 75W-90 Gear and Axle Lubricant.
9. Install fill plug and torque to 35 N.m (26 ft. lbs.).
10. Reposition the PTU heat shield (2) to the side of the PTU, and install a new retaining clip (1).
11. Reposition the PTU heat shield (2) to the bottom of the PTU, and install bolt (1). Tighten to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.).
12. Lower vehicle.

1. Remove the rear transmission bracket to transmission bolts (2).
2. Remove the rear transmission bracket (1).
3. Remove crossmember. Refer to «Frame and Bumpers/Frame/CROSSMEMBER - Removal»(ref-353568-S24366143892010011200000) .
4. Remove right halfshaft assembly. Refer to «Differential and Driveline/Half Shaft - Removal»(ref-353569-S23433654932010011200000) .
5. Remove the exhaust and rear maniverter from engine. Refer to «Exhaust System/CONVERTER, Catalytic - Removal»(ref-353615-S40705470032010011200000) .
6. Remove propeller shaft assembly. Refer to «Differential and Driveline/Propeller Shaft - Removal»(ref-353569-S30582861682010011200000) .
7. If equipped release the breather hose clamp (4) and reposition the breather hose (5) out of the way.
8. Remove the PTU-to-transaxle mount bracket upper bolts (1) and heat shield mounting clips (2).
9. Remove the heat shield (3).
10. Remove the lower heat shield bolt (2) and remove the heat shield (1).
11. Remove PTU-to-bracket lower bolts (2).
12. Roll engine and transmission forward.
13. Remove PTU (1) from vehicle.

Scheme 23

1. Install new O-ring onto PTU.
2. Apply RTV, 05010884AA, to the PTU O-ring. NOTE: The sequence below should always be followed when installing the PTU
3. Install PTU into position.
4. Install PTU-to-transmission adaptor bolts (2) and tighten to 22 N.m (30 ft. lbs.).
5. Check and adjust PTU Fluid level. The PTU holds .8L (1.7 Pints.) of Mopar® 75W-90 Gear and Axle Lubricant.
6. Install the PTU Heat shield (3).
7. Install new heat shield mounting clips (2).
8. Install PTU-to-transaxle mount bracket upper bolts (1) and tighten to 54 N.m (40 ft. lbs.).
9. If equipped install the breather hose (5) and the breather hose clamp (4).
10. Install the lower heat shield bolt (2) and tighten to 22 N.m (30 ft. lbs.).
11. Install transmission rear mount (1) and bolts (2) and tighten to 54 N.m (40 ft. lbs.).
12. Install propeller shaft assembly. Refer to «Differential and Driveline/Propeller Shaft - Installation»(ref-353569-S22009109082010011200000) .
13. Install exhaust to engine. Refer to «Exhaust System/CONVERTER, Catalytic - Installation»(ref-353615-S13772629482010011200000) .
14. Install the crossmember. Refer to «Frame and Bumpers/Frame/CROSSMEMBER - Installation»(ref-353568-S00602877582010011200000) .
15. Install right halfshaft assembly. Refer to «Differential and Driveline/Half Shaft - Installation»(ref-353569-S33188263152010011200000) .
