REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

| CAUTION | When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery. |
Disconnect battery. Remove glove box. Remove CTM bracket fasteners. Pull out CTM and bracket. Disconnect CTM harness connector(s). Remove CTM and bracket. To install, reverse removal procedure.
Intermittent wiper relay is located in Power Distribution Center (PDC) in engine compartment. Remove cover and remove relay. To install, reverse removal procedure.
Removal & Installation (Front Wiper Arm)
Open hood. Lift and remove pivot shaft cover from wiper arm. Remove pivot shaft nut and, using puller, remove wiper arm. To install, ensure wiper motor is in park position. Align wiper arms. See WIPER BLADES under ADJUSTMENTS. Tighten nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
Removal & Installation (Rear Wiper Arm)
Lift pivot shaft cover from wiper arm. Remove pivot shaft nut. Using battery terminal puller, remove wiper arm. To install, ensure wiper motor is in park position. Install wiper arm and nut. Tighten nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Align wiper arms. See WIPER BLADES under ADJUSTMENTS.
Removal & Installation (Front)
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove wiper arms. See «WIPER ARMS»(ref-3655-S25157096012000051100000) . Open hood. Remove weatherstrip from front edge of cowl grille. Remove 4 plastic cowl nuts near base of windshield. Remove plastic rivet at front corner on each side of cowl plenum cover. Remove plastic push-in retainer at rear corner on each side of cowl plenum.
- Unsnap slotted center hole on each side of cowl plenum cover from adhesive-backed snap fastener. Lift cowl grille and disconnect washer supply hose. Disconnect vacuum supply hose from vacuum reservoir. Remove cowl grille. Disconnect wiper motor harness connector. Remove wiper linkage and wiper motor.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten fasteners to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-3655-S08720872782000051100000) . Install wiper arms. See «WIPER BLADES»(ref-3655-S19449995132000051100000) under ADJUSTMENTS.
Removal & Installation (Rear)
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove wiper arm. See «WIPER ARMS»(ref-3655-S25157096012000051100000) . Carefully pry off pivot shaft bezel nut cover. Disconnect washer hose (if equipped), and remove pivot shaft bezel nut and grommet.
- Pull upper trim panel outward to disengage spring clips and remove. Remove screws and pull lower trim panel outward to disengage spring clips, disconnect wiring and remove. Disconnect wiper motor wiring. Remove motor and bracket.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Install motor and bracket loosely, then center shaft from outside and install pivot shaft bezel nut and grommet. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten nuts and screws to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-3655-S08720872782000051100000) . Install wiper arm. See «WIPER BLADES»(ref-3655-S19449995132000051100000) under ADJUSTMENTS.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove tilt lever (if equipped). Remove steering column upper and lower covers to access switch connector. Remove switch connector. Remove multifunction switch tamperproof screws.
- Gently pull switch away from column and loosen connector screw (screw remains in connector). Remove switch. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten screws and nuts to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-3655-S08720872782000051100000) . Ensure switch is functioning properly.
Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove lower panel from instrument panel. Remove switch from lower panel. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten screws and nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Ensure switch is functioning properly.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect headlight and instrument panel wire harness connector from connector receptacle at front or rear pump. Disconnect washer supply hose from outlet nipple of front or rear washer pump. Drain fluid from reservoir.
- Using a wide flat-bladed tool, pry washer pump barbed inlet nipple from rubber grommet seal in reservoir. Remove and discard rubber grommet seal. To install, reverse removal procedure. Use new rubber grommet seal.
