POWER SEAT INOPERATIVE
With dome light on, apply power seat switch in direction of failure. If dome light dims, power seat may be jamming. Check for binding or obstructions. If dome light does not dim, check individual components. See COMPONENT TESTS .
- Operate power seat switch to move all 3 motors in each direction. If seat fails to move in more than one direction, go to next step. If seat fails to move in one direction only, move seat momentarily in opposite direction and test again. If seat still fails to move in one direction only, see «POWER SEAT SWITCH»(ref-3635-S31322972352000051100000) under COMPONENT TESTS.
- On Dakota, check circuit breaker No. 21 (20-amp) in junction block. Replace circuit breaker as necessary and recheck system operation. If circuit breaker is okay, go to next step. On Durango, check fuse No. 4 (50-amp) in Power Distribution Center (PDC). Replace fuse as necessary and recheck system operation. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
- On all models, disconnect power seat switch harness connector. Check for battery voltage at power seat switch connector terminal "A" (Black/Pink wire). (Scheme 1) If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open circuit between power seat switch and PDC (Durango) or junction block (Dakota).
- Check for continuity between ground and power seat switch connector terminal "B" (Black wire). (Scheme 1) If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open ground circuit.
- Test power seat switch. See «POWER SEAT SWITCH»(ref-3635-S31322972352000051100000) under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, check for open or short circuit in wire harness between power seat switch and inoperative power seat motor. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-3635-S12693825952000051100000). Repair circuits as necessary. If circuits are okay, replace power seat adjuster and motor assembly.
POWER SEAT SWITCH
Remove power seat switch. See POWER SEAT SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between power seat switch terminals with switch in appropriate position. See POWER SEAT SWITCH TEST table. (Scheme 1) If continuity does not exist between appropriate terminals with switch in appropriate position, replace switch. If continuity exists between appropriate terminals with switch in appropriate position, power seat switch is okay.

POWER SEAT ADJUSTERS & MOTORS
Note. Seat motors are not serviced separately. If any segment of power seat adjustment mechanism is faulty, replace adjusters and motors as an assembly.
