- Raise vehicle.
- Remove rear propeller shaft. Refer to «Differential and Driveline/Propeller Shaft/SHAFT, Drive - Removal»(ref-352630-S17420111932010010600000).
- Using a suitable pry tool or slide-hammer mounted screw, remove the rear retainer seal.
- Using Bushing Remover 8158 (1) (Scheme 18), remove the bushing from rear retainer.

- Clean fluid residue from sealing surface and inspect for defects.
- Position replacement bushing in rear retainer with fluid port in bushing aligned with slot in retainer.
- Using Bushing Installer 8157 (2) (Scheme 19), drive bushing (1) into retainer until installer seats against case. 1 - SPECIAL TOOL C-4171 2 - SPECIAL TOOL D-163
- Using Seal Installer D-163 (2) (Scheme 20), install seal in rear retainer.
- Install the rear propeller shaft. Refer to «Differential and Driveline/Propeller Shaft/SHAFT, Drive - Installation»(ref-352630-S37060632682010010600000).
- Verify proper fluid level.
- Lower vehicle.

The fill (2) (Scheme 21) and drain (3) plugs are both in the rear case.
- Raise vehicle.
- Position drain pan under transfer case.
- Remove drain and fill plugs and drain lubricant completely.
- Install drain plug. Tighten plug to 20-34 N.m (15-25 ft. lbs.).
- Remove drain pan.
- Fill transfer case to bottom edge of fill plug opening with Mopar® ATF +4, Automatic Transmission fluid.
- Install and tighten fill plug to 20-34 N.m (15-25 ft. lbs.).
- Lower vehicle.
