Wiper System & Washer System: Overview Dodge Cab & Chassis R2500

DESCRIPTION & OPERATION

WARNINGVehicle is equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Prior to ANY repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.

A permanent magnet wiper motor is used for low, high or intermittent (delay) wiper functions. Base model intermittent (delay) wiper function, provides a .5-18.0 second delay mode. On high-line and premium models, delay function is speed sensitive. At vehicle speeds greater than 10 MPH, delay mode range is .5-18.0 seconds. At vehicle speeds less than 10 MPH, delay mode doubles to 1-36 seconds.

Three versions of Central Timer Module (CTM) are available with this vehicle. Base model of CTM, sometimes referred to as Integrated Electronic Module (IEM), controls chime module, intermittent wipe module and ignition key lamp delay relay on base model vehicles. High-line version of CTM controls functions of base model CTM and integrates many other electronic functions of high-line models. Premium version of CTM is only available on vehicles with heated seat option. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - RAM PICKUP article for diagnostics.

On high-line and premium models, delay function is controlled by Central Timer Module (CTM), located under passenger side of instrument panel, outboard of glove box. CTM switches an intermittent wiper relay, located in Power Distribution Center (PDC). On high line models, CTM is connected to Chrysler Collision Detection (CCD) data bus network to receive vehicle speed information for delay function. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - RAM PICKUP article for diagnostics.
