VALVE CLEARANCE
Valve clearance must be adjusted with engine temperature less than 140°F (60°C). For valve clearance adjusting procedure, see ADJUSTMENTS DIESEL article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
| Procedure | Cylinder Numbers | |
|---|---|---|
| Step 1 (2) | ||
| Exhaust Valves | 1, 3 & 5 | |
| Intake Valves | 1, 2 & 4 | |
| Step 2 (3) | ||
| Exhaust Valves | 2, 4 & 6 | |
| Intake Valves | 3, 5 & 6 | |
| (1) Adjust valves with engine temperature less than 140°F (60°C). (2) Adjust with timing pin engaged and No. 1 cylinder at TDC. (3) Engine rotated 360 degrees from TDC of No. 1 cylinder and reference marks aligned. | ||
