Front Wheel Drive Models (FWD)
Floor jack may be used to raise vehicle at locations shown in illustrations. (Scheme 4), (Scheme 5) and (Scheme 6). A front floor jack point is located at center of front crossmember (inboard) and at center of rear axle.
FWD Lifting Points (Horizon & Omni). Ensure scissors jack flange is in contact with body sill at jack receptacle. Scheme 4
FWD Lifting Points (Aries, LeBaron & Reliant). A floor jack point is at center of front crossmember (inboard) and at center of rear axle. Scheme 5
FWD Lifting Points (600 & New Yorker). When emergency jacking, ensure scissors jack engages with locator pin on body sill. Scheme 6
EMERGENCY JACKING
Scissors jack receptacles are located at body sills. DO NOT use floor jack at scissors jack locations. Check scissors jack flange is in contact with body sill and jack is engaged in body sill receptacle (except Aries, LeBaron, Reliant, 600, E Class and New Yorker). Ensure scissors jack engages with locator pin on body sills on Aries, LeBaron, Reliant, 600, E Class and New Yorker. Always block opposite wheels and jack on level surface.
| CAUTION | When removing rear axle, fuel tank, spare tire or lift gate on FWD vehicles and single post hoist is used, note the following: Anchor vehicle to hoist, place jack stands under vehicle or add weight on rear end of vehicle to prevent tipping when center of gravity changes. |
FRAME CONTACT HOIST
Frame contact hoist must be equipped with proper adapters to support vehicle in correct locations. On rear wheel drive models, ensure adaptor plates make firm contact with lower control arms and rear axle housing.
Front Wheel Drive Models
Axle contact hoist may be used but only on points shown in illustrations. DO NOT pick up vehicle at front lower control arms or rear trailing arm suspension.
