Preliminary operations
Remove
- The interior mirror
- The rain sensor (disconnect the harness at each end)
- The windscreen aperture trims
- The wiper blades
- The windscreen pillar right and left inner covers
Detach the dashboard upper trim (1)
Removing
WarningProtect the angles of the dashboard so as not to damage it with the cutting wire [1354-E]
Pass the awl [1354-C] through the bead of adhesive, from the inside towards the outside
Pass the cutting wire [1354-E] through the adhesive seal; using the awl [1354-C]
Secure the cutting wire [1354-E] on an earth fixing on the RH windscreen pillar (at "a")
Pass the cutting wire [1354-E] under the windscreen all around
Pass the other end of the cutting wire [1354-E] through the adhesive seal; using the awl [1354-C]
Tension the cutting wire [1354-E]; using the winding device [1354-AZ]
Cut the sealing adhesive
WarningAs the cutting wire is tensioned, check that it is correctly positioned under the windscreen
Keep the cutting wire [1354-E] tensioned; using the return roller [1354-BZ]
Fix the other end of the cutting wire [1354-E] inside the vehicle onto the winder device with roller [1354-BZ]
Cut out the adhesive seal, starting the cut from the bottom LH angle of the windscreen
Remove the return roller [1354-BZ]
Move the winder device [1354-AZ]
Continue cutting
Move the winder device [1354-AZ]
Refit the return roller [1354-BZ]
Continue cutting
NoteFor the following operation 2 people are necessary
Remove the windscreen using hinged suction cups [KIT1-VENT]
Refitting
Protect the inside of the vehicle
Fit the electric cutter [FEIN-400E] with blade N°146
Level off the beads of adhesive on the windscreen and the flange
Present the windscreen to the windscreen aperture
Centre the windscreen and position the adhesive strips (2)
Cut the tape (2)
Remove the windscreen
Touch up with anti-corrosion product
Degrease the bonding surfaces of the windscreen and of its flange
Apply the panel primers on the bonding areas
Leave to dry for 10 minutes
Fit the shims (3)
Bonding
WarningBefore any operations follow the suppliers' recommendations regarding the polymerisation times of the products used
Equip the extrusion gun from the bonding kit
Use the nozzle provided in the bonding kit
Present the windscreen to the windscreen aperture
Cut the nozzle at 8 mm for a length of 12 mm
Apply an adhesive bead all around the windscreen periphery
Positioning of the bead of adhesive
- Side structure B: between 11 mm and 14 mm
- Top and bottom C: 8,0 mm maximum
The lateral dimensions are measured relative to the windscreen edge
The top and bottom dimensions are measured relative to the windscreen periphery seal
The height of the adhesive bead should be between 13 and 15 mm
NoteTake a mid point on each side of the windscreen for taking dimensions
WarningThe time between the application of the adhesive strip on the windscreen and the positioning of the windscreen on the vehicle must not exceed 8 minutes (adhesives with rapid setting)
Check the condition and positioning of the spacer shims (3)
Note3 operators are necessary for the removal
Refit the windscreen
Position the windscreen in relation to the adhesive strips (2); using the double hinged suction cups [KIT1-VENT]
Check the fits and clearances of the windscreen glass
Exert a constant pressure; using tools [KIT1-VENT] and [KIT2-VENT]
Check the sealing of the windscreen
Additional operations
Proceed in the reverse order to removal
Clean then thoroughly degrease the windscreen and its surround
Check the operation of the equipment
