Presentation
- Glazing tools
- Glass bonding kit
Preliminary operations
Remove
- The rain/sunlight bi-sensor
- The interior mirror
- The screen pillar trim pads
- The scuttle grille
Removing
Unclip: the tongues (2) of the windscreen pillar uprights (1) from the clips (3); using tool [1350-ZZ]
Remove the windscreen pillar trims (1)
NoteReplace the clips (3) if necessary
NoteIf the windscreen is to be re-used: position strips of adhesive tape (4) and cut them (as "a")
Pass the awl [1354-C] through the bead of adhesive, from the inside towards the outside
Thread the cutting wire [1354-E] into the awl [1354-C] and pass it towards the inside
Pass the cutting wire under the windscreen seal following "b" all the way round; using soapy water
Leave a sufficient length to permit securing on the fixing (5)
Secure the cutting wire [1354-E] on the mounting (5)
Put the winding device [1354-AZ] in place as indicated on the diagram
Cut the cutting wire [1354-E], leaving a length sufficient for it to be attached onto the winding device [1354-AZ]
Fix the end of the cutting wire in the winding device [1354-AZ]
When pulling on the cutting wire [1354-E], ensure the wire is in the right place under the lip of the windscreen seal
NoteUse the protectors [1375] to protect the dashboard and sun visor module at the slightest resistance of the wire while cutting, slacken it and assist it in passing the obstacle (support shims, excessive thickness of the bead of adhesive or join between panels)
Finish cutting
NoteTwo people are required to perform the following operation
Remove the windscreen (6); using the double hinged suction cups [KIT1-VENT]
Refitting
Preparation: flange - windscreen
Fit the electric cutter [FEIN-400E] with blade N°146
Level off the beads of adhesive on the windscreen and the flange
If the windscreen is replaced, centre it and position adhesive tape (4) as shown, then cut it (as "c")
Remove the windscreen (6)
Touch up with anti-corrosion product
Degrease the flange using the degreaser provided in the bonding kit
Allow to dry for 10 mn
Spacer shims
Position the shims (7) as originally
Applying the adhesive
Cut the nozzle at "A" = 8 mm for a length of "B" = 13 mm
1st case: reusing the windscreen
- There is no need to apply primer
- Remove any impurities from the shaved seal; using a blow gun
2nd case: this method applies in the case of a new windscreen
- Degrease the surround of the glass with the products chosen from the bonding kit
- The window is supplied pre-coated with primer
- Further primer must be applied following the line of the primer applied during manufacture "d"; allow to dry for 10 mn
WarningNo more than 8 minutes must elapse between applying the mastic and positioning the glass (for the quick setting bonding mastics)
Apply the bead of adhesive at the centre of the line of primer (at "d")
Reused windscreen: position the windscreen in relation to the adhesive strips (4)
New windscreen: position the windscreen in relation to the adhesive strips (4)
Exert a constant pressure; using the wire suction cups [KIT2-VENT]
Check the fits and clearances
Allow to cure for 30 minutes before handling
Check: the sealing of the windscreen
Proceed in the reverse order to removal
Check the electrical operation of the equipment
Clean: the windscreen (6)
