Removing
Lift and support the vehicle with front wheels suspended
Disconnect the ancillaries battery
Remove
- The front wheels
- The protective panel under the engine
- The guard under the front bumper
Vehicles fitted with discharge bulb headlamps
Disconnect the rod of the front body height sensor (at "a")
Unclip and disconnect the connector: front height sensor (at "b")

Remove
- The bolt (3) (on each side)
- The lower crossmember (1)
- The bolts (2) (according to equipment) (on each side)
- The bolt (4) (on each side)
Remove
- The nuts (5) (on the driver's side)
- Tie-rod (6) (on the driver's side)
- The nut (9) (on each side)
Move aside the rod of the anti-roll bar (8) (on each side)
Remove the nut (7) (on each side)
WarningBe careful not to damage the gaiter of the hub carrier ball joint
WarningWhen disengaging the pivot: retain the driveshaft in the differential (left-hand side)
Detach the lower arm pivot ball-joint; using tool [0622] (on each side)
Remove the nuts (10) (according to equipment)
Move the exhaust mounting (11) aside (according to equipment)
Unclip the electrical wiring harnesses connected to the subframe
Remove
- The bolt (12)
- The nuts (13)
- The pins (14)
Clamp the steering mechanism
Retrieve the notched washers between the mechanism and the sub-frame
Support the front subframe with a lifting tool
NoteInsert a shim between the tool and the subframe
Remove screws (15)
Separate the subframe from the bodyshell by a few centimetres
Move aside the heat shield (16) from the steering mechanism
Remove the screw of the pipe support (17) of the steering mechanism (at "c")
Move aside the steering mechanism pipe support (17)
WarningTake care not to damage the subframe extensions
Remove the front subframe/extensions assembly
Refitting
WarningAdhere to the tightening torques

Position the front subframe on the vehicle a few centimetres from the bodyshell
Unclamp the steering mechanism
Engage the steering mechanism pins (14) on the front subframe with the toothed washers
NoteThe toothed washers "" should be positioned between the steering mechanism and the front subframe
Reposition the steering mechanism pipe support (17)
Refit the screw of the steering mechanism pipe support (17) (at "c")
Reposition the heat shield (16)
Refit the front subframe/extensions assembly
WarningBe careful not to damage the gaiter of the hub carrier ball joint
Connect the pivot ball-joint in the lower arm (on each side)
Refit
- The bolts (15)
- The nuts (13)
- The bolt (12)
- The exhaust bracket (11) on the subframe (according to equipment)
- The nuts (10) (according to equipment)
- The nut (7) (on each side)
Reconnect anti-roll bar link rod (8) (on each side)
Refit
- The nut (9) (on each side)
- Tie-rod (6) (on the driver's side)
- The nuts (5) (on the driver's side)
- Refit bolt (4) (on each side)
- Refit the bolts (2) (according to equipment) (on each side)
