Removing
NoteIf the windscreen is to be re-used: position strips of adhesive tape (1) and cut them (as "a")
Pass the awl [1354-C] through the bead of adhesive, from the inside towards the outside
Thread the cutting wire [1354-E] into the awl [1354-C] and pass it towards the inside
Pass the cutting wire under the windscreen seal following "b" all the way round; using soapy water
Leave a sufficient length to permit securing on the fixing (2)
Secure the cutting wire [1354-E] on the mounting (2)
WarningUse the protectors [1375] to protect the fascia panel and the headlining
Put the winding device [1354-AZ] in place as indicated on the diagram
Cut the cutting wire [1354-E], leaving a length sufficient for it to be attached onto the winding device [1354-AZ]
Fix the end of the cutting wire [1354-E] in the winding device [1354-AZ
NoteWhen tensioning the cutting wire [1354-E], take care to route the cutting wire [1354-E] under the lip of the windscreen seal
NoteAt the least resistance of the cutting wire [1354-E] during cutting, de-tension it and help it to pass the obstacle (support shims, extra-thick adhesive bead, or panel junctions)
Finish cutting
NoteTwo people are required to perform the following operation
Remove the windscreen (3); using the double hinged suction cups [KIT1-VENT]
Refitting
Preparation: flange - windscreen
Fit the electric knife [FEIN-400E] with the blade "d" (N°146)
Level off the adhesive beads both on the windscreen (3) and the flange
Test fit the windscreen (3) if it is a replacement
NoteIf the windscreen (3) is to be replaced, align it and position pieces of adhesive tape (4) as shown above, then cut them (as "c")
Remove the windscreen (3)
Touch up with anti-corrosion product
Degrease the flange using the degreaser provided in the bonding kit
Apply the metal primer provided in the bonding kit
Allow to dry for 10 mn
Applying the adhesive
Place the mastic mixer assembly into the gun
Take the nozzle supplied in the glueing kit
Cut the nozzle to "A" = 8 mm dia. at "B" = 13 mm from the tip
1st case: re-use of the windscreen (3)
- There is no need to apply primer
- Remove any impurities on the shaved seal; using a blow gun
2nd case: this method applies in the case of a new windscreen (3)
- Degrease the surround of the windscreen (3) using the product chosen from the bonding kit
- The windscreen (3) is supplied pre-coated with primer
NoteFurther primer must be applied following the line of the primer applied during manufacture (as "d")
Allow to dry for 10 mn
WarningThe time between applying the mastic to the windscreen (3) and positioning the latter on the vehicle must not exceed 8 minutes (for the quick setting bonding mastics)
WarningApply the bead of adhesive at the centre of the line of primer
NoteRe-used windscreen (3): position the windscreen (3) in relation to the adhesive strips (1)
NoteNew windscreen (3): position the windscreen (3) in relation to the adhesive strips (4)
Exert a constant pressure; using the wire suction cups [KIT2-VENT]
Allow to cure for 30 minutes before handling
Check: the sealing of the windscreen (3)
Proceed in the reverse order to removal
Check the electrical operation of the equipment
Clean: the windscreen (3)
