Removing - refitting: subframe Citroen Berlingo II

Removing

Release the front wheel bolts

Lift and support the vehicle with front wheels suspended

Remove

  • The front wheel bolts
  • The front wheels
  • The protective panel under the engine

Vehicles fitted with front subframe extensions

Remove the front bumper

Remove

  • The bolts (1)
  • The front impact absorber (2)
  • The bolts (3)
  • The cross beam (4)

Remove

  • The bolts (5)
  • The subframe extensions (6)

Removing (continued)

Each side

  • Remove the nut (9)
  • Uncouple: the anti-roll bar rod (8)
  • Remove the nut (7)

WarningTake care not to damage the suspension lower arm ball-joint boot

WarningWhen detaching the pivot, support the drive shaft in the differential

Uncouple the pivot swivel joint from the lower arm; using tool [1] (each side)

Remove

  • The nuts (10)
  • The nuts (11)

Remove

  • The (12) bolt
  • The studs (13)

Position a lifting tool to retain the front sub-frame

Remove the bolts (14)

Separate the subframe from the bodyshell by a few centimetres

Remove: the washer (15) (each side)

Release: the steering mechanism thermal protector (16)

Remove

  • The power steering pipes support (17) bolt
  • The subframe

Refitting

WarningAdhere to the tightening torques

Tightening torques

  • Subframe
  • Steering

WarningAlways fit new Nylstop nuts

Position the front subframe under the vehicle a few centimetres from the bodyshell

Refit

  • The power steering pipes support (17) bolt
  • The steering mechanism thermal protector (16)
  • The adjusting washer (15) (on each side)

Refit the sub-frame

Refit

  • The bolts (14)
  • The studs (13)
  • The nuts (10)
  • The (12) bolt
  • The nuts (11)

WarningTake care not to damage the lower arm ball joint boot

Connect the pivot ball-joint in the lower arm; using tool [1] (on each side)

Refit the nut (7) (on each side)

Reconnect anti-roll bar link rod (8) (on each side)

Refit the nut (9) (each side)

Vehicles fitted with front subframe extensions

Check the condition of the following components

  • Rubber (as "a")
  • Front subframe extensions (6)

Replace any defective parts

Refit

  • The subframe extensions (6)
  • The bolts (5) (without tightening)
  • The cross beam (4)
  • The bolts (3)

Tighten the bolts (5)

Refit

  • The front impact absorber (2)
  • The bolts (1)
  • The front bumper

Removing (continued)

Refit

  • The protective panel under the engine
  • The front wheels
  • The front wheel bolts
  • The vehicle to its wheels

Tighten the wheel bolts

Tighten the wheel bolts

Check and adjust the wheel tracking
