Body Control Modules: Removal & Installation Chrysler 300M I

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

WARNINGDeactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. Do not apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. DO NOT reconnect battery before turning ignition on and ensuring no one is in vehicle. Air bag may deploy.
CAUTIONAlways turn ignition off before disconnecting any control module connectors. Failure to do so could result in damage to control module. When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.

Note. If vehicle is equipped with Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS), vehicle will not start after replacement of Body Control Module (BCM), until VTSS system is enabled.

Note. BCM is attached to junction block. Junction block must be removed to enable removal of BCM. Junction block is located behind left side of instrument panel. (Схема №2)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Open driver door. Pry off left instrument panel end trim cap. Remove 2 left side under dash cover screws. Remove left side under dash cover. Remove deck lid switch and wiring.
  2. Remove left knee bolster. Remove ducts under steering column. Disconnect connectors from junction block. Remove 4 junction block screws. Remove junction block. Disconnect BCM connectors. Remove RKE antenna connector (if equipped). Remove 3 RKE module-to-BCM screws. Remove RKE module. Remove 4 screws holding BCM to junction block and separate BCM from junction block.
  3. To install, transfer RKE module to replacement BCM. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Using scan tool, enable VTSS system.

Note. Memory Heated Seat/Mirror Module (MHSMM) is located under front of driver seat. (Схема №4)

  1. Note position of driver seat. Move driver seat as far rearward and upward as possible to gain access to MHSMM. If necessary, remove seat from vehicle. Disconnect negative battery cable and wait 2 minutes.
  2. Remove 2 MHSMM-to-seat frame screws. Disconnect MHSMM connectors. Remove MHSMM from seat. To install, reverse removal procedure. Turn ignition on, then reconnect battery. Return driver seat to original position.

Note. Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is located at driver side front corner of engine compartment, between power distribution center and Transmission Control Module (TCM). (Схема №3)

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove speed control servo with bracket and wiring harness, and set aside. Remove filler neck from windshield washer fluid bottle. Remove TCM for access to PCM. Remove PCM bolt, and pull PCM outward. Disconnect connectors from PCM. Remove PCM. To install, reverse removal procedure. Program module(s) as necessary. See appropriate module under PROGRAMMING .

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove ash tray. Using a trim stick, gently pry on instrument panel center trim bezel. Disconnect A/C control module, cigarette lighter/auxiliary power outlet and traction control switch connectors (if equipped). Remove instrument panel center bezel.
  2. Remove 4 radio screws. Pull radio away from instrument panel. Disconnect connectors and antenna cable. Remove radio from vehicle. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Note. SKIM is located in steering column, by ignition switch. (Схема №5)

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove knee bolster. Remove upper and lower steering column covers. Disengage steering column wire retainer from SKIM. Remove SKIM retaining screw. Disconnect SKIM connector. Slide SKIM from around ignition switch and remove SKIM. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Note. Transmission Control Module (TCM) is located at driver side front corner of engine compartment, next to power distribution center and Powertrain Control Module (PCM). (Схема №3)

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove speed control servo with bracket, and set aside. Remove filler neck from windshield washer fluid bottle. Remove TCM nut and screw. Lift TCM and bracket to gain access to TCM connector. Remove TCM connector screw. Disconnect TCM connector. Remove TCM. To install, reverse removal procedure.
