Seat System: Removal & Installation Chevrolet Uplander I

Removal Procedure

  1. Extend the seat from the vehicle.
  2. Unlock the foot rest and extend the foot rest from the seat base.
  3. Remove the foot rest lock handle.
  4. Use a flat-bladed tool to remove the bolt cover from the foot rest tube.
  5. Remove the bolt from the foot rest tube.
  6. Remove the foot rest from the seat base.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the foot rest to the seat base.
  2. Install the bolt to the foot rest tube. Tighten: Tighten the bolt to 33 N.m (25 lb ft).
  3. Install the foot rest tube covers and snap into place.
  4. Install the foot rest lock handle.
  5. Return the foot rest to the seat base.
  6. Return the seat to the vehicle.
  7. Test the seat for proper operation.
  1. Extend the foot rest all the way out.
  2. Remove the screws from the foot rest cover.
  3. Remove the foot rest cover.
  1. Install the foot rest cover. Tighten: Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
  2. Return the foot rest to the lock position.

Storage Tray Replacement - Rear (Captain Seat)

  1. Slide the rear seat to the most rearward position.
  2. Fold the seat back so its flat.
  3. Pull the strap on the back side of the rear seat riser in order to release the riser from the floor.
  4. Tilt the rear seat fully upwards.
  5. Disable the SIR, if equipped. Refer to «SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 10»(ref-241682-S28317930612006081100000) and «SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 12»(ref-241682-S00132886312006081100000) .
  6. Lift the rear seat from the latch.
  7. Remove the rear seat from the vehicle.
  1. Install the rear seat to the vehicle.
  2. Secure the front seat riser latches into the floor. Ensure that the latch is secured on both pins.
  3. Enable the SIR, if equipped. Refer to «SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 10»(ref-241682-S28317930612006081100000) and «SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 12»(ref-241682-S00132886312006081100000) .
  4. Tilt the rear seat assembly down and latch the rear seat riser latches into the floor.
  5. Tilt the rear seat back upright.
  6. Return the rear seat to its original position.
  1. Remove the upper seat trim. Refer to «Trim Replacement - Sit-N-Lift Upper»(ref-241729-S25827587542006081100000) .
  2. Remove the fasteners from the module bracket.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the module.
  4. Remove the module from the seat base.
  1. Align the module with the seat base and connect the electrical connectors to the module.
  2. Install the module bracket and secure with fasteners. Tighten: Tighten the fasteners to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
  3. Test the module for proper operation.
  4. Install the upper seat trim. Refer to «Trim Replacement - Sit-N-Lift Upper»(ref-241729-S25827587542006081100000) .
  1. Extend the seat out from the vehicle.
  2. Remove the fasteners from the rear of the seat.
  3. Remove the screws from the roll-up chain cover.
  4. Remove the chain cover.
  1. Install the roll-up chain cover.
  2. Install the screws to the chain cover. Tighten: Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
  3. Install the fasteners to the rear of the seat.
  4. Return the seat to the vehicle.
  5. Test the seat for proper operation.

Seat Cushion Frame Replacement - Rear (Bucket)

  1. Remove the trim covers from the upper seat base.
  2. Remove the trim cover from the front lower base.
  3. Remove the lock bolts that secure the seat base rear hooks to the floor.
  4. Remove the lower anchor bolt from the seat belt.
  5. Pull back on the quarter trim panel to access the electrical connection for the power seat.
  6. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  7. Use a flat-bladed tool to disengage the locking hooks from the floor anchor.
  8. Tilt the seat base forward about 45 degrees to disengage the front hooks.
  9. Remove the seat from the vehicle.
  1. Install the seat into the vehicle.
  2. Lift the back of the seat to about 45 degrees to engage the front seat hooks to the floor anchors.
  3. Extend the power seat wires under the carpet.
  4. Lower the rear of the seat base by dropping the seat from a height of about 7.6 cm (3 in) to engage the rear hooks to the floor anchors.
  5. Install the lock bolts to the rear hooks. Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
  6. Connect the electrical connector from the seat to the harness behind the quarter trim panel.
  7. Push on the quarter trim panel to return the panel into place.
  8. Install the lower anchor bolt to the seat belt. Tighten: Tighten the bolt to 43 N.m (32 lb ft).
  9. Install the trim cover to the front lower base.
  10. Install the trim covers to the upper seat base.
  11. Test the seat for proper operation.
  1. Extend the seat to the outside position from the vehicle.
  2. Remove the fasteners from the upper trim seat base.
  3. Remove the front seat base trim cover from the base.
  1. Align the front seat base trim cover with the base and fasten the cover in place.
  2. Return the seat to the vehicle and inspect for proper operation.

Seat Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement - Rear (Bucket)

  1. Remove the right trim cover fasteners.
  2. Remove the left trim cover fasteners.
  3. Remove the rear trim cover.
  1. Install the rear trim cover.
  2. Align the left trim cover with the rear trim cover and attach with the cover fasteners.
  3. Align the right trim cover with the rear trim cover and attach with the cover fasteners.
  1. Remove the right side upper trim panel from the seat base.
  2. Remove the rear trim panel from the seat base.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the seat base.
  4. Remove the remote control and the chord from the vehicle.
  1. Install the remote control and the chord to the seat base.
  2. Connect the electrical connector to the seat base.
  3. Install the rear trim panel to the seat base.
  4. Install the right side upper trim panel to the seat base.
  5. Test the seat for proper operation.
  1. Remove the upper seat trim. Refer to «Trim Replacement - Sit-N-Lift Upper»(ref-241729-S25827587542006081100000) .
  2. Remove the chain cover. Refer to «Chain Cover Replacement - Sit-N-Lift»(ref-241729-S40454197132006081100000) .
  3. Remove the bolts from the limit switch bracket.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  5. Remove the switch.
  1. Install an upper and lower stay bracket to the seat base. Secure the bracket with a bracket bolt. Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (35 lb ft).
  2. Install the limit switch and the bracket to the seat base.
  3. Install the bolts to the limit switch bracket. Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 5.8 N.m (50 lb in).
  4. Connect the electrical connector.
  5. Set the limit switch to stop the lift in the proper location. Make the adjustment at the top hole on the slotted mounting bracket.
  6. Tighten the mounting screws until the screws are snug, yet the switch can still be moved easily by hand.
  7. Operate the lift to the proper location. Slide the switch forward until the switch makes contact and clicks into place.
  8. Hand tighten the switch.
  9. Adjust the lift stop position. The lift should stop when the left post makes contact with the rubber bushing and the right post is 2-4 mm (0.040-0.080 in) from contacting the metal hook.
  10. Inspect the seat for proper installation.
  11. Install the chain cover. Refer to «Chain Cover Replacement - Sit-N-Lift»(ref-241729-S40454197132006081100000) .
  12. Install the upper seat trim. Refer to «Trim Replacement - Sit-N-Lift Upper»(ref-241729-S25827587542006081100000) .
