Removal Procedure

  1. Position your fingers between the headliner and the information center telltale assembly bezel and gently pull down to release the display bezel retainers.
  2. Use a small flat-bladed tool to release the locking tab at the rear of the telltale assembly.
  3. Tilt the information center telltale assembly down and pull down to remove.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the information center telltale assembly.

Installation Procedure

  1. Connect the electrical connector to the information center telltale assembly.
  2. Position the information center telltale assembly into the headliner until locking tab locks into position. It may be necessary to rock the display into position.
  3. Install bezel by pressing into place until the locking tabs are fully seated.
  1. Remove rear bumper fascia. Refer to «Fascia Replacement - Rear Bumper (Pontiac)»(ref-241697-S04801415952006081100000) , «Fascia Replacement - Rear Bumper (Buick)»(ref-241697-S00233165312006081100000) or «Fascia Replacement - Rear Bumper (Chevrolet)»(ref-241697-S18549694232006081100000) .
  2. Lift the locking tabs on the housing (4) and remove the rear object sensor (1).
  3. Squeeze the spring (1) and remove it from the housing (2).
  4. Release the tabs on the housing and remove.
  5. Remove the rear object sensor bezel from the rear fascia.
  1. Paint the new rear object sensor. Refer to «Basecoat/Clearcoat Paint Systems»(ref-241698-S33065841842006081100000) .
  2. Inspect the paint thickness to ensure it does not exceed 6 mm using a paint thickness gauge suitable for non-ferrous metals.
  3. Align the keyhole (2) with the key (1) and press the rear object sensor bezel flush to the fascia.
  4. Install the housing to the cutouts on the bezel through the back side of the fascia.
  5. Install the spring (1) to the housing (2).
  6. Install the decoupling ring (2) to the sensor (1).
  7. Insert the sensor into the housing (4) with the connector pointing toward the passenger side of the fascia. Press the sensor tabs into the cutouts on the housing (4).
  8. Connect the electrical connector.
  9. Install the rear bumper fascia. Refer to «Fascia Replacement - Rear Bumper (Pontiac)»(ref-241697-S04801415952006081100000) , «Fascia Replacement - Rear Bumper (Buick)»(ref-241697-S00233165312006081100000) or «Fascia Replacement - Rear Bumper (Chevrolet)»(ref-241697-S18549694232006081100000) .
  1. Remove the right rear compartment side trim. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter - Right»(ref-241679-S40373754052006081100000) .
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the rear object detection module.
  3. Remove the mounting bolts from the rear object detection module.
  4. Remove the rear object detection module from the vehicle.
  1. Align the rear object detection module to the vehicle.
  2. Install the rear object detection module mounting bolts. Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
  3. Install the electrical connector to the rear object detection module and press in the locking tab.
  4. Install the rear compartment side trim. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter - Right»(ref-241679-S40373754052006081100000) .
