Ventilation

Airflow is discharged from upper instrument panel outlets. Quantity of airflow is controlled by blower speed setting and vehicle speed.

Bi-Level

Airflow is discharged from upper instrument panel outlets and floor outlets. Air delivered to the floor outlets is warmer than air to instrument panel outlets.

Major portion of airflow is discharged from floor outlets. A small amount of airflow is directed to windshield defroster outlets.

Heat/Defrost

Airflow is divided between floor outlets, windshield defrost outlets and side window outlets.

Defrost

Airflow is discharged from defrost outlets. A small amount of airflow is delivered to side window and floor outlets.

FRESH/RECIRCULATION CONTROL LEVER

The fresh/recirculation control lever mechanically operates a cable which opens or closes fresh/recirculation mode door to fresh (outside) air. When fresh/recirculation lever is set to fresh, outside air is delivered to vehicle interior. With lever in fresh mode, as vehicle speed increases, in addition to blower motor speeds, airflow through system increases. When lever is in recirculation position, outside air is shut off and air from inside passenger compartment is recirculated through blower motor to selected air outlets. (Scheme 3)

Scheme 3: FRESH/RECIRCULATION CONTROL LEVER

BLOWER SPEED CONTROL LEVER

The blower speed control lever operates blower motor at one of 4 speeds. (Scheme 3)

TEMPERATURE CONTROL LEVER

When temperature control lever is moved to full hot position, air mix door opens fully, allowing all airflow through heater core to selected outlets. (Scheme 4) In full cold position, air mix door closes off airflow through heater core. Adjusting air temperature control lever allows more or less air to by-pass heater core.

TEMPERATURE CONTROL CABLE

Disconnect temperature control cable from clip and door at heater case. Set temperature lever to full cold position. At heater case, push door lever fully forward (clockwise) and attach cable with cable clip. (Scheme 5) Check temperature knob for smooth operation and ensure that it stops in correct spots.

MODE CONTROL CABLE

Disconnect mode control cable from clip and door at heater case. Set mode lever to vent position. At heater case, push door lever fully forward (clockwise) and attach cable with cable clip. (Scheme 5) Check mode lever for smooth operation and ensure that it stops in correct spots.

FRESH/RECIRCULATED AIR CONTROL CABLE

Disconnect fresh/recirculated air control cable from clip and door at blower case. Set fresh/recirculation control lever to recirculation position. At blower case, push door lever fully rearward (clockwise) and attach cable with cable clip. (Scheme 5) Check fresh/recirculation control lever for smooth operation and ensure that it stops in correct spots.
