Interior Trim: Removal & Installation Chevrolet SSR I

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the door sill plate. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement»(ref-187806-S05795818642005090100000) .
2. Pull the hinge pillar trim towards the center of the vehicle to release the retainers.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the hinge pillar trim.
2. Install the door sill plate. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement»(ref-187806-S05795818642005090100000) .

1. Remove the rear upper garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Rear Upper»(ref-187806-S19110670052005090100000) .
2. Remove the door sill plate. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement»(ref-187806-S05795818642005090100000) .
3. Pull the lock pillar trim forward to release the retainers.
4. Remove the lock pillar trim.

1. Install the hinge pillar trim.
2. Ensure the seat belt is not twisted.
3. Install the door sill plate. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement»(ref-187806-S05795818642005090100000) .
4. Install the rear upper garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Rear Upper»(ref-187806-S19110670052005090100000) .

1. Pull up on the door sill plate trim to release the retainers.
2. Remove the door sill plate trim.

1. Align the door sill plate retainers with the slots in the sill plate.
2. Install the door sill plate.

1. Remove the seats. Refer to «Seat Replacement»(ref-187813-S26985867522005090100000) in Seats.
2. Remove the console. Refer to «Console Replacement»(ref-187800-S00149639652005090100000) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
3. Remove the door sill plate. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement»(ref-187806-S05795818642005090100000) .
4. Remove the hinge pillar trim. Refer to «Trim Replacement - Hinge Pillar»(ref-187806-S22116607002005090100000) .
5. Remove the front carpet from the vehicle.

1. Install the front carpet into the vehicle.
2. Install the hinge pillar trim. Refer to «Trim Replacement - Hinge Pillar»(ref-187806-S22116607002005090100000) .
3. Install the door sill plate. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement»(ref-187806-S05795818642005090100000) .
4. Install the console. Refer to «Console Replacement»(ref-187800-S00149639652005090100000) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
5. Install the seats. Refer to «Seat Replacement»(ref-187813-S26985867522005090100000) in Seats.

1. Remove the seats. Refer to «Seat Replacement»(ref-187813-S26985867522005090100000) in Seats.
2. Remove the console. Refer to «Console Replacement»(ref-187800-S00149639652005090100000) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
3. Remove the rear upper garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Rear Upper»(ref-187806-S19110670052005090100000) .
4. Remove the door sill plate. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement»(ref-187806-S05795818642005090100000) .
5. Remove the lock pillar trim. Refer to «Trim Replacement - Lock Pillar»(ref-187806-S37481364122005090100000) .
6. Remove the seat back bumpers. Refer to «Bumper Replacement - Front Seat Back Cushion»(ref-187806-S29502702542005090100000) .
7. Remove the tire inflator thumb screws (1).
8. Remove the tire inflator from the vehicle.
9. Remove the rear carpet from the vehicle.

1. Install the rear carpet into the vehicle.
2. Install the tire inflator.
3. Install the tire inflator thumb screws (1). Tighten: Tighten the fasteners to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
4. Install the seat back bumpers. Refer to «Bumper Replacement - Front Seat Back Cushion»(ref-187806-S29502702542005090100000) .
5. Install the lock pillar trim. Refer to «Trim Replacement - Lock Pillar»(ref-187806-S37481364122005090100000) .
6. Install the door sill plate. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement»(ref-187806-S05795818642005090100000) .
7. Install the rear upper garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Rear Upper»(ref-187806-S19110670052005090100000) .
8. Install the console. Refer to «Console Replacement»(ref-187800-S00149639652005090100000) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
9. Install the seats. Refer to «Seat Replacement»(ref-187813-S26985867522005090100000) in Seats.

1. Partially open the roof to reveal the 3 front pushpins (1).
2. Remove the 3 front pushpins from the headliner.
3. Flip both of the sunshades forward.
4. Close the roof to reveal the 2 rear pushpins.
5. Remove the right rear pushpin (1) from the headliner. Remove the left rear pushpin.
6. Pull down on the outside edges of the headliner to release the headliner from the weatherstrip and the dual lock (1) retaining feature.
7. Move the headliner rearward to release the rear J-strip (2).
8. Remove the headliner from the vehicle.

1. If necessary, remove the dual lock fasteners from the roof and install them on the headliner (1).
2. Position the headliner to the roof panel.
3. Attach the rear J-strip to the roof panel (1).
4. Position the headliner above the weatherstrips, ensuring the weatherstrips are fully exposed.
5. Push upward on the headliner to attach the dual lock fasteners (2).
6. Install the left and right rear pushpins (1) to the headliner.
7. Partially close the roof.
8. Install the pushpins (1).
9. Close the roof completely.

1. Open the convertible top.
2. Remove the pushpins retaining the retractable roof headliner side trim panel cover.
3. Remove the retractable roof headliner side trim panel cover from the vehicle.

1. Position the retractable roof headliner side trim panel cover into the vehicle.
2. Insert the pushpins retaining the retractable roof headliner side trim panel cover.
3. Close the convertible top.

1. Remove front headliner. Refer to «Retractable Roof Headliner Front Trim Panel Replacement»(ref-187806-S39231173482005090100000) .
2. Remove the 6 pushpins (1) from the rear trim panel.
3. Release the dual lock fasteners (2).
4. Remove the headliner from the vehicle.

1. Position the rear headliner into the vehicle.
2. Engage the dual lock fasteners (2).
3. Install the 6 pushpins (1).
4. Install front headliner. Refer to «Retractable Roof Headliner Front Trim Panel Replacement»(ref-187806-S39231173482005090100000) .

1. Remove the screws from the sunshade.
2. Pull the sunshade down until the electrical connector (1) is exposed.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector.
4. Remove the sunshade.

1. Connect the electrical connector (1).
2. Push the electrical connector and wiring above the headliner.
3. Install the sunshade screws. Tighten: Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

1. Using a flat-bladed tool, open the sunshade anchor.
2. Remove the screw from the sunshade anchor.

1. Install the sunshade anchor screw. Tighten: Tighten the screw to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
2. Close the sunshade anchor access cover.

1. Remove the sunshade anchors. Refer to «Sunshade Anchor Replacement»(ref-187806-S34169982662005090100000) .
2. Remove the sunshades. Refer to «Sunshade Replacement»(ref-187806-S27743141632005090100000) .
3. Remove the windshield upper garnish molding. Refer to «Windshield Upper Garnish Molding Replacement»(ref-187806-S28933343462005090100000) .
4. Remove the windshield garnish molding.

1. Install the windshield garnish molding.
2. Install the windshield upper garnish molding. Refer to «Windshield Upper Garnish Molding Replacement»(ref-187806-S28933343462005090100000) .
3. Install the sunshade anchors. Refer to «Sunshade Anchor Replacement»(ref-187806-S34169982662005090100000) .
4. Install the sunshades. Refer to «Sunshade Replacement»(ref-187806-S27743141632005090100000) .

1. Remove the sunshade anchors. Refer to «Sunshade Anchor Replacement»(ref-187806-S34169982662005090100000) .
2. Pull the windshield garnish molding to release the retainers.
3. Disconnect the passenger air bag indicator electrical connector.
4. Remove the garnish molding.

1. Connect the passenger air bag indicator electrical connector.
2. Install the windshield garnish molding.
3. Install the sunshade anchors. Refer to «Sunshade Anchor Replacement»(ref-187806-S34169982662005090100000) .

1. Using a flat-bladed plastic tool, release the rear upper garnish molding retainers.
2. Remove the garnish molding from the vehicle.

1. Align the rear upper garnish molding retainers with the mounting holes in the vehicle.
2. Install the garnish molding to the vehicle.

1. Remove the hinge pillar trim. Refer to «Trim Replacement - Hinge Pillar»(ref-187806-S22116607002005090100000) .
2. Using a flat-bladed plastic tool, gently pry the fastener covers (1) from the seat back bumpers.
3. Remove the seat back bumper nuts.
4. Remove the seat back bumper.

1. Install the seat back bumper on to the mounting studs.
2. Install the seat back bumper nuts. Tighten: Tighten the nuts to 10 N.m (88 lb in).
3. Install the seat back bumper covers (1) on to the seat back bumper.
