Installation Procedure

Install the power accessory switches to the switch panel. Tighten the power accessory switch screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
Connect the electrical connectors to the switches.
Position the switch panel to the door panel.
Install the switch panel by pressing the switch panel into place until fully seated.

Remove the power accessory switch panel. Refer to «Power Accessory Switch Panel Replacement»(ref-176715-S29064096382005051100000) .
Disconnect the power window switch electrical connector.
Remove the screws from the window switch.
Remove the switch from the switch panel by lifting the rear of the switch and sliding the switch out from the switch panel.

Install the switch to the switch panel sliding the front tabs in first. Rock the switch down in order to seat the switch completely.
Install the screws to the window switch. Tighten the window switch screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
Connect the electrical connector to the window switch.
Install the power accessory switch panel. Refer to «Power Accessory Switch Panel Replacement»(ref-176715-S29064096382005051100000) .

Scheme 75: Removal Procedure

Use a small flat-bladed tool in order to carefully pry the door power window switch from the door trim panel.
Disconnect the electrical connector from the switch.

Connect the electrical connector to the switch.
Install the switch to the door trim panel by pressing the switch into place until fully seated.

Remove the power accessory switch panel. Refer to «Power Accessory Switch Panel Replacement»(ref-176715-S29064096382005051100000) .
Disconnect the electrical connector from the door lock switch.
Remove the screws from the door lock switch.
Remove the power window and door lock switch from the switch panel.

Install the power door lock and power window switch assembly to the switch panel, sliding the front tabs in first. Rock the switch down in order to seat the door lock switch completely.
Install the screws to the door lock switch.
Connect the electrical connector to the door lock switch.
Install the power accessory switch plate. Refer to «Power Accessory Switch Panel Replacement»(ref-176715-S29064096382005051100000) .

Remove the power mirror switch from the accessory switch panel using a flat-bladed tool in order to release the retainer tabs.

Install the power mirror switch, pressing the switch into place until fully seated.
Install the power accessory switch panel. Refer to «Power Accessory Switch Panel Replacement»(ref-176715-S29064096382005051100000) .

Insert a flat-bladed tool between the door handle bezel and the trim panel in order to release the handle bezel tab retainers.
Remove the door handle bezel from the door panel.

Position the door handle bezel in the door trim panel.
Install the door handle bezel to the door panel by pressing the bezel into place until the bezel is completely seated.

Insert a flat-bladed tool at the top between the door bezel and the door panel.
Carefully bend outward the retaining clips while pulling out the bezel.

Snap the handle bezel into place in the door trim panel.

Open the front door.
Release the upper extension by pulling outward in order to release the upper retainer clip.
Remove the upper extension from the trim panel by lifting up and out.

Position the lower retainer to the trim panel.
Align the upper retainer clip to the door frame.
Install the upper extension by pressing into place until fully seated.

Remove the manual lock lever from the trim panel using a flat bladed tool.
Remove the trim panel screws.
Remove the courtesy lamp, if equipped. Refer to «COURTESY LAMP/REFLECTOR REPLACEMENT - DOOR»(ref-176693-S39601379632005051000000) .
Remove the trim panel from the door. Carefully slide the trim panel up in order to release the retainers from the door.
Disconnect the electrical connectors.

Connect the electrical connectors.
Install the courtesy lamp, if equipped.
Carefully align the panel, and slide the panel into the retainer slots in order to install the trim panel to the door.
Install the window handle, if equipped. Refer to «Window Handle Replacement»(ref-176715-S31352256432005051100000) .
Install the power accessory switch panel. Refer to «Power Accessory Switch Panel Replacement»(ref-176715-S29064096382005051100000) .
Install the trim panel screws. Tighten the trim panel screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
Install the manual lock lever to the trim panel.
Install the upper extension of the trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Upper Extension»(ref-176715-S24173213372005051100000) .
Install the door handle bezel. Refer to «Handle Bezel Replacement - Inside»(ref-176715-S24074972932005051100000) .

Removal Procedure

Remove the door handle bezel. Refer to «Handle Bezel Replacement - Inside»(ref-176715-S24074972932005051100000) .
Remove the window-regulator handle, if equipped. Refer to «Window Handle Replacement»(ref-176715-S31352256432005051100000) .
Using a flat-bladed tool, remove the reflector lamp from the trim panel, and disconnect the electrical connector, if required.
Remove the manual lock lever from the trim panel using a flat-bladed tool.
Remove the two trim panel screws.
Remove the trim panel from the door by carefully sliding the panel upward then outward.
Disconnect the electrical connectors.

Connect the electrical connectors, if necessary.
Align the retainers with the holes in the door.
Install the trim panel to the door by lowering the trim panel down into the retainer holes in order to seat the retainers.
Install the trim panel screws. Tighten the trim panel screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
Install the manual lock lever by pressing the lever until the lever is completely seated.
Connect the electrical connector to the reflector lamp, and install the reflector by pressing the reflector until the reflector is completely seated, if removed.
Install the window-regulator handle, if necessary. Refer to «Window Handle Replacement»(ref-176715-S31352256432005051100000) .
Install the door handle bezel. Refer to «Handle Bezel Replacement - Inside»(ref-176715-S24074972932005051100000) .

Remove the screws that retain the trim panel armrest.
Insert a flat-bladed tool between the trim panel and the door in order to carefully pry the panel from the door.

Install the trim panel to the door by pressing the panel edges until the panel is in place.
Install the screws that retain the trim panel armrest. Tighten the trim panel armrest screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
Install the door handle bezel. Refer to «Handle Bezel Replacement - Inside»(ref-176715-S24074972932005051100000) .

Important: Water deflectors seal the inner panel. Water deflectors prevent water from entering into the body. A strip of adhesive between the deflector and the door secures the deflector.

Remove the trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Side Front Door»(ref-176715-S40227821732005051100000) .
Using a flat-blade tool, break the bond between the sealer and the door.
Pull the waterproof sealing tape from the deflector.
Remove the water deflector.

Using waterproof tape or 3M®777 (or equivalent), install the water deflector to the door.
Install the trim panel to the door. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Side Front Door»(ref-176715-S40227821732005051100000) .

Remove the trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door (Crew Cab)»(ref-176715-S39184164252005051100000) .
Using a flat-bladed tool, separate the bond between the sealer and the door.
Pull the waterproof sealing tape from the deflector.
Remove the water deflector.

Position the electrical connectors through the water deflector.
Using waterproof tape, or 3M®777, or equivalent, install the water deflector to the door.
Install the trim panel to the door. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door (Crew Cab)»(ref-176715-S39184164252005051100000) .

Important: Water deflectors seal the inner panel. Water deflectors prevent water from entering into the body. A strip of adhesive between the deflector and the door secures the deflector.

With an assistant, install the door to the vehicle by placing the door on the hinge pins.
Install the bolts to the upper door hinge and the lower door hinge. Tighten the hinge bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
Install the door check link bolt to the pillar side. Tighten the door check link bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
Connect the door wire harness. Refer to «Wiring Harness Replacement - Door»(ref-176715-S09228572452005051100000) .
Install the weatherstrip to the door. Refer to «Weatherstrip Replacement - Front Door»(ref-176715-S22547461622005051100000) .
Install the door lock actuator. Refer to «Lock Actuator Replacement - Front Door»(ref-176715-S26502148782005051100000) .
Install the outside door handle. Refer to «Door Handle Replacement - Outside»(ref-176715-S36469357022005051100000) .

Remove the door speaker.

Remove the front door striker. Refer to «Striker Replacement - Door»(ref-176715-S30154476862005051100000) .
Remove the door check link bolt from the pillar side.
Remove the hinge retaining clips.
With an assistant, lift the door up from the hinge pins and remove the door from the vehicle.

With an assistant install the door to the vehicle by setting the door down on the hinge pins.
Install the top and bottom clips hinge retaining clips.
Install the door check link bolt to the pillar side. Tighten the door check link bolt to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).
Connect the door wire harness.
Install the front door striker. Refer to «Striker Replacement - Door»(ref-176715-S30154476862005051100000) .
Install the rear door weatherstrip. Refer to «Weatherstrip Replacement - Side Door Opening»(ref-176715-S18370594092005051100000) .
Install the upper and lower door latches. Refer to «Latch Replacement - Side Door Upper»(ref-176715-S39787526812005051100000) or «Latch Replacement - Side Door Lower»(ref-176715-S15486977112005051100000) .
Install the outside door handle. Refer to «Door Handle Replacement - Outside»(ref-176715-S36469357022005051100000) .

Remove the door check link bolt from the pillar side.
With an assistant, remove the bolts from the upper and the lower door hinges.
With an assistant, lift the door up from the hinge pins and remove the door from the vehicle.

With an assistant install the door to the vehicle by setting the door down on the hinge pins.
Install the bolts to the upper and the lower door hinges. Tighten the upper and lower bolts to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).
Install the door check link bolt to the pillar side. Tighten the door check link bolt to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).
Connect the door wire harness.
Install the rear door weatherstrip. Refer to «Weatherstrip Replacement - Rear Door»(ref-176715-S26901541792005051100000) .
Install the door lock actuator. Refer to «Lock Actuator Replacement - Rear Door»(ref-176715-S34574161262005051100000) .
Install the outside door handle. Refer to «Door Handle Replacement - Outside»(ref-176715-S36469357022005051100000) .
Install the inside door handle. Refer to «Door Handle Replacement - Inside»(ref-176715-S29145433712005051100000) .

Door Hinge Pin & Bushing Replacement - Front Door

The door hinge pins and bushings are not replaceable. If the hinge pins or bushings are damaged, replace the door hinge as an assembly. Refer to Hinge Replacement - Front Door - Door Side and Hinge Replacement - Front Door - Body Side .

Door Hinge Pin & Bushing Replacement - Rear Door

Remove all of the related panels and components.
Remove any excess sealer surrounding the existing hinge and scribe the location of the hinge on the hinge pillar.
Lightly hand-sand the existing hinge with 100 grit or finer sandpaper in order to locate the 4 welds that attach the hinge to the door. Important: Punch the center of the weld so that as much of the weld as possible is removed during the drilling.
Center punch each of the four weld marks on the original hinge base. Important: Do not drill into the door (1).
Drill through the hinge base (2) only, at each punch location. Use a 13 mm (1/2 in) rotabroach hole saw (3) or equivalent.
Remove the hinge. If necessary, use a chisel in order to separate the hinge from the door.
Remove all of the remaining weld from the door surface in order to ensure a flush fit of the service hinge.

Scheme 88: Installation Procedure

Repair any damage done to the door during the drilling or the removal of the hinge.
Clean and prepare the backing plate mounting surfaces in order to ensure a flush fit of the backing plate.
Position the service hinge within the scribe marks on the door.
Center punch each hole location on the door according to the service hinge.
Drill a 3 mm (1/8 in) pilot hole at each center punch location. Important: Drill bit must be exact size.
Drill an 11.5 mm (29/64 in) hole at the pilot locations.
Clean and prepare all of the bare metal surfaces. Important: Prior to refinishing, refer to the publication GM 4901M-D-2000 GM Approved Refinish Materials for recommended products. Do not combine paint systems. Refer to paint manufacturer's recommendations.
Apply approved anti-corrosion primer.
Apply a full-bodied caulk to the entire hinge mounting surface in order to ensure a proper seal.
Align the hinge (1) and the backing plate (4) with the holes in the door (2) and install the bolts (3). Tighten the bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
Apply the sealers.
Refinish the metal surfaces as necessary.
Install and align all of the related panels and the components.

Scheme 89

Scheme 89: Removal Procedure

Remove all of the related panels and components.
Remove any excess sealer surrounding the existing hinge and scribe the location of the hinge on the hinge pillar.

Position the service hinge within the scribe marks on the pillar.
Center punch each stud location on the hinge pillar according to the service hinge.
Drill a 3 mm (1/8 in) (1) pilot hole at each center punch location. Important: Drill bit must be exact size.
Drill an 11.5 mm (29/64 in) hole at the pilot locations for the studs.
Clean and prepare all of the bare metal surfaces. Important: Prior to refinishing, refer to the publication GM 4901M-D-2000 GM Approved Refinish Materials for recommended products. Do not combine paint systems. Refer to paint manufacturer's recommendations.
Apply approved anti-corrosion primer.
Feed fish wire (1), GM P/N 15017229 or the equivalent, through the hinge, the hinge stud hole and out of the conduit hole in the pillar
Install stud (2), GM P/N 15017230, supplied with the service hinge into the wire end. Pull the stud into position.
Hold the stud in position with the hinge and remove the fish wire.
Draw the stud (4) tight through the pillar. Use the nuts GM P/N 11516746 supplied.
Repeat steps 8-11 on the remaining stud locations.
Remove each service nut.
Apply a full-bodied caulk to the entire hinge mounting surface in order to ensure a proper seal.
Install the hinge (2) to the pillar (3). Use the supplied nuts (1). Tighten the hinge nuts (4) to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
Clean and prepare all of the surfaces as necessary for refinishing.
Apply the sealers. Refinish the surfaces as necessary.
Install and align all of the related panels and the components.

Scheme 91

Scheme 91: Removal Procedure

Remove the door from the body. Refer to appropriate service manual.
Remove any excess sealer surrounding the hinge and scribe the location of the hinge on the body.
Lightly hand-sand existing body hinge with 100 grit or finer sandpaper to locate each weld attaching hinge to door. Important: Original punch marks may not necessarily indicate the center of the welds.
Center punch each of the 4 weld marks on the original hinge base. It is critical to punch the center of the weld so that as much of the weld is removed during drilling as possible. Important: Do not drill into the hinge pillar (3). Drill through hinge (2) only. If necessary, use a chisel to separate the hinge from pillar.
At each punch location, drill through hinge base only using a 13 mm (1/2 in) rotabroach hole saw (4), or equivalent.
Remove the hinge from the pillar (3).
Remove all remaining weld from the pillar surface to ensure a flush fit of service hinge.

Scheme 92

Scheme 92: Installation Procedure

Repair any damage done to the pillar during drilling or removal.
Position the hinge within the scribe marks on the hinge pillar.
Center punch each stud location on the pillar according to the service hinge.
Drill a 3 mm (1/8 in) pilot hole at each center punch location.
At the pilot hole location, drill 11.5 mm (29/64 in) hole through the pillar. Important: Prior to refinishing, refer to Publication GM 4901M-D-2000 GM Approved Refinish Materials for recommended products. Do not combine paint systems. Refer to paint manufacturer's recommendations.
Apply an approved anti-corrosion primer to all bare metal surfaces.
Feed fish wire GM P/N 15017229 through the hinge, the hinge pillar and out the conduit hole in the pillar.
Install stud GM P/N 15017230 into the end of the fish wire and pull the stud into position.
Hold the stud in position with the hinge and remove the fish wire.
Install nut GM P/N 11516746 on the stud and draw the stud through the pillar. This will seat the stud and prevent it from splitting.
Repeat steps 7-10 on the remaining stud locations.
Remove the nuts and hinge.
Apply a full-bodied caulk to the entire hinge mounting surface to ensure a proper seal.
Align the hinge and install using fasteners supplied.
Torque the hinge bolts to 25 N.m (18 ft lb).
Modify the door side hinge lower extensions (1), if installing the original access door without a door side service hinge or a used access door.
Trim hinge extensions (1) so they maintain a wall thickness of 2 mm between the end of the extensions and the body side hinge nuts (3).
Measure and maintain a wall thickness of 2 mm around the hole at the end of the extension (4). Important: Prior to refinishing, refer to publication GM 4901M-D-2000 GM Approved Refinish Materials for recommended products. Do not combine paint systems. Refer to paint manufacturer's recommendations.
Clean and prepare all surfaces.
Refinish as necessary.
Install and align all related panels and components.

Scheme 93

Scheme 93: Removal Procedure

Remove all of the related panels and components.
Remove any excess sealer surrounding the existing hinge and scribe the location of the hinge on the hinge pillar.
Lightly hand-sand the existing hinge with 100 grit or finer sandpaper in order to locate the 4 welds that attach the hinge to the door. Important: Punch the center of the weld so that as much of the weld as possible is removed during the drilling.
Center punch each of the 4 weld marks on the original hinge. Important: Do not drill into the hinge pillar.
Drill through the hinge only at each punch location. Use a 13 mm (1/2 in) rotabroach hole saw or the equivalent.
Remove the hinge. If necessary, use a chisel in order to separate the hinge from the pillar.
Remove all of the remaining weld from the pillar surface in order to ensure a flush fit of the service hinge.

Repair any damage done to the pillar during the drilling or the removal.
Position the service hinge within the scribe marks on the pillar.
Center punch each stud location on the hinge pillar according to the service hinge (1).
Drill a 3 mm (1/8 in) pilot hole (2) at each center punch location. Important: The drill bit must be the exact size.
Drill an 11.5 mm (29/64 in) hole at the pilot locations for the studs.
Clean and prepare all of the bare metal surfaces. Important: Prior to refinishing, refer to the publication GM 4901M-D-2000 GM Approved Refinish Materials for recommended products. Do not combine paint systems. Refer to manufacturer's recommendations.
Apply an approved anti-corrosion primer.
Feed fish wire, GM P/N 15017229 of the equivalent, through the hinge (1), the hinge stud hole and out of the conduit hole in the pillar.
Install the stud, GM P/N 15017230, supplied with the service hinge, into the wire end. Pull the stud into position.
Hold the stud in position with the hinge and remove the fish wire.
Draw the stud (4) tight through the pillar. Use the nuts GM P/N 11516746, supplied.
Repeat steps 7 through 10 on the remaining stud locations.
Remove each service nut.
Apply a full-bodied caulk to the entire hinge mounting surface in order to ensure a proper seal.

Remove all of the related panels and components.
Remove any excess sealer surrounding the existing hinge and scribe the location of the hinge on the hinge pillar.
Lightly hand-sand the existing hinge with 100 grit or finer sandpaper in order to locate the 4 welds that attach the hinge to the pillar. Important: It is critical to punch the center of the weld so that as much of the weld as possible is removed during the drilling.
Center punch each of the 4 weld marks on the original hinge. Important: Do not drill into the door (1).
Drill through the hinge (2), at each punch location. Use a 13 mm (1/2 in) rotabroach hole saw (3) or equivalent.
Remove the hinge. If necessary, use a chisel in order to separate the hinge from the door.
Remove all of the remaining welds from the door surface in order to ensure a flush fit of the service hinge.

Repair any damage done to the door during the drilling or the removal of the hinge.
Clean and prepare the backing plate mounting surfaces in order to ensure a flush fit of the backing plate.
Position the service hinge within the scribe marks on the door.
Center punch each hole location on the door according to the service hinge.
Drill a 3 mm (1/8 in) pilot hole at each center punch location. Important: Drill bit must be exact size.
Drill an 11.5 mm (29/64 in) hole at the pilot locations for the studs.
Clean and prepare all of the bare metal surfaces. Important: Prior to refinishing, refer to the publication GM 4901M-D-2000 GM Approved Refinish Materials for recommended products. Do not combine paint systems. Refer to paint manufacturer's recommendations.
Apply approved anti-corrosion primer.
Apply a full-bodied caulk to the entire hinge mounting surface in order to ensure a proper seal.
Align the hinge (1) and the backing plate (4) with the holes in the door (2) and install the bolts (3). Tighten the hinge to the pillar nuts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
Clean and prepare all of the surfaces as necessary for refinishing.
Apply the sealers. Refinish the surfaces as necessary.
Install and align all of the related panels and the components.

Fully open the door.
Remove the door trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Side Front Door»(ref-176715-S40227821732005051100000) .

Remove the outside mirror. Refer to «Mirror Replacement (Manual)»(ref-176715-S26106910502005051100000) or «Mirror Replacement (Power Mirror)»(ref-176715-S05521847992005051100000) .
Remove the outer sealing strip from the door, lifting up on the forward end in order to unhook the rear of the strip from the window run channel.

Hook the rear end of the sealing strip into the window run channel. Lower and press the strip into place.
Install the outside mirror. Refer to «Mirror Replacement (Manual)»(ref-176715-S26106910502005051100000) or «Mirror Replacement (Power Mirror)»(ref-176715-S05521847992005051100000) .
Raise the window.

Lower the window.
Remove the outer sealing strip from the door.

Align the sealing strip in place. Lower and press the strip into place.
Raise the window.

Open the door.
Remove the sill plate.
Remove the hinge pillar trim panel.
Remove the windshield pillar molding.
Remove the weatherstrip from the rear side door opening. Pull the unit away from channel, separating the weatherstrip from the pinchweld flange.

Install the weatherstrip from the rear side door opening fully seating the weatherstrip into the channel.
Install the windshield pillar molding.
Install the hinge pillar trim panel.
Install the sill plate.
Check door closing effort and seal to door fit.

Remove the screws.
Pull the weatherstrip from the following locations: The front of the glass run channel The top of the window frame flange The rear of the glass run channel
Remove the weatherstrip from the door.

Install the weatherstrip to the following locations: The front of the glass run channel The top of the window frame flange The rear of the glass run channel
Install the bolts. Tighten to 6 N.m (53 lb in).
Install the window. Refer to «Window Replacement - Front Door»(ref-176715-S33418523682005051100000) .
Install the water deflector. Refer to «Water Deflector Replacement - Front Door»(ref-176715-S26005260162005051100000) .
Install the door trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Side Front Door»(ref-176715-S40227821732005051100000) .
Inspect operation of window.

Pull the weatherstrip from the front window run channel.
Pull the weatherstrip from the rear window run channel.
Pull the weatherstrip from the window frame flange.

Align the weatherstrip in the window frame flange.
Press the weatherstrip into the window frame flange until fully seated.
Press the weatherstrip into the rear window run channel until fully seated.
Press the weatherstrip into the front window run channel until fully seated.
Install the window. Refer to «Window Replacement - Rear Door»(ref-176715-S00413433662005051100000) .

Open the door.
Pull the weather-strip from the pinchweld flange.

Push the weather-strip over the pinch-weld flange.
Close the door.

Open the rear door.
Remove the rear door weatherstrip by pulling the weatherstrip from the track.
Release push-in retainers on lower weatherstrip from door.
Remove the rear door weatherstrip from the rear door.

Install the rear door weatherstrip on the rear door by pressing weatherstrip onto the track.
Install the rear door weatherstrip, by pressing in on the retainers until each retainer is fully seated.
Close the rear door.

Remove the sill plate.
Remove the hinge pillar trim pillar.
Remove the windshield pillar molding.
Remove the weather-strip from the rear side door pinch-weld flange.

Install the weather-strip from the rear side door opening fully seating the weather-strip into the pinch-weld flange.
Install the windshield pillar molding.
Install the hinge pillar trim pillar.
Install the sill plate.
Inspect the door closing effort and seal to door fit.

Remove the insulator, if equipped.
Disconnect the electrical connector.
Remove the nuts securing the outside mirror to the door.
Remove the mirror from the door.

Install the outside mirror to the door. Press the mirror into place.
Connect the electrical connector.
Install the nuts in order to secure the outside mirror to the door. Tighten the outside mirror nuts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
Install the insulator, if equipped.
Install the trim panel upper extension. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Upper Extension»(ref-176715-S24173213372005051100000) .

Remove the front door trim panel upper extension. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Upper Extension»(ref-176715-S24173213372005051100000) .
Remove the nuts that retain the outside mirror to the door.
Remove the outside mirror from the door.

Install the rearview mirror to the door, pressing the outside mirror into place.
Install the nuts in order to retain the outside mirror to the door. Tighten the outside rearview mirror retaining nuts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
Install the front door trim panel upper extension. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Upper Extension»(ref-176715-S24173213372005051100000) .

CAUTION

When working with any type of glass or sheet metal with exposed or rough edges, wear approved safety glasses and gloves in order to reduce the chance of personal injury.

Scheme 130

Important: When removing electrochromatic glass that is broken, or if glass breaks during replacement, be cautious not to spill electrochromatic fluid on to vehicle. Doing so will cause damage to the vehicle.

Adjust mirror face as shown in picture to obtain access to mirror face retention clips (1).
Position flat-bladed tool between back side of mirror face and the adjuster mechanism as shown in picture.
With a twisting motion of the flat bladed tool, separate the mirror face from the adjuster mechanism by releasing the mirror face retention clips (1).
With mirror face in hand, disconnect the electrical connectors.
Remove the mirror face from the mirror housing.
Inspect the adjuster mechanism for damage.

Scheme 131: Installation Procedure

Inspect the components for any damage. Ensure that the mirror face has all the retention clips in place.
Plug in the electrical connectors to the back of the mirror.
Align the mirror face retention clips with the adjuster mechanism.
Gently press the mirror back into the adjuster mechanism with the palm of the hand on the center of the glass until it locks into place.
Inspect the operation of the mirror.
