REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
| WARNING | Before servicing instrument panel components on vehicles with Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system, disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS - PRIZM article. DO NOT apply electrical power to any component on instrument panel without deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy. |
| CAUTION | When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery. |
Multifunction Alarm Module (MAM) is attached to junction block No. 2. see scheme 1 Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove left lower instrument panel trim. Remove junction block No. 2. Position junction block No. 2 for access to MAM. Disconnect MAM connector and remove MAM from junction block No. 2. To install, reverse removal procedure.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove mirror mount garnish panel from door. (Scheme 4)
- Unclip and remove front door armrest trim cover. Remove 2 armrest screws and armrest. Remove window crank handle (if equipped). Pry front power window/door lock switch from door panel (if equipped). Disconnect connectors from power window/door lock switch (if equipped).
- Remove 2 plastic retainers from door trim panel. Remove inside door handle screw. Slide inside door handle forward and pull away from door trim panel. Remove actuating rod from inside door handle. Remove inside door handle. Remove door trim panel by disengaging retaining clips.
- Disconnect power mirror connector. Remove 3 mirror mounting bolts. Remove mirror. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten mirror mounting bolts to 11 ft. lbs. (15 N.m).
Scheme 4
Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove 4 clips securing power mirror switch to left instrument panel outlet trim bezel. Carefully pull power mirror switch from trim bezel. Disconnect switch connector and remove switch. To install, reverse removal procedure.
