Transmission (Except Tracker)
On all Light Duty vehicles, check transmission fluid every 12 months or 7500 miles. On Heavy Duty vehicles, check fluid level every 12 months or 6000 miles. Periodic draining and refilling is not required.
Transfer Case (Except Tracker)
Check transfer case lubricant every oil change or 12 months. Under severe conditions, check it more frequently.
Tracker
- Under normal driving conditions, replace transmission and transfer case fluid at first 7500 mile interval and then every 30,000 miles thereafter.
- Under severe driving conditions, replace transmission and transfer case fluid at the first 7500 mile interval and then every 15,000 miles or 15 months.
Transmission
Check lubricant level at transmission filler plug hole. Lubricant should be level with bottom of filler hole.
Transfer Case
Remove filler plug. Check oil level. Lubricant should be level with bottom of filler hole.
NV4500, T5 & Tracker
Note. The NV4500, T5 transmissions and transmission used on Tracker have no shift rods. The shift levers are mounted directly to the top of the transmissions and are not adjustable.
5LM60
- Disconnect all shift rods from transmission shift levers. With shift control lever in Neutral position, insert a 1/4" diameter pin through alignment holes in shifter assembly.
- Align both shift levers on the transmission in the forward detent, and then move them back one detent. Loosen lock nuts on shift swivel ends, and align rod ends with shift lever holes.
- Install shift rods in levers, tighten lock nuts, and install lock pins. Remove alignment pin, and check for proper linkage operation.
