Power Window System: Other Chevrolet Malibu V facelift

DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW

When ignition switch is turned to RUN position and master power window switch is pressed to down position, voltage is applied to window motor down control circuit causing driver window to open. When master power window switch is pressed to up position, voltage is applied to window motor up control circuit and driver window closes. Return path to ground is supplied through inactive control circuit being normally grounded through master power window switch. Master power window switch also controls passenger windows.

EXPRESS DOWN FEATURE

Driver's side window will travel to full down position if master power window switch is momentarily pressed down past first detent. Press master power window switch to up position in order to stop window.

LOCK-OUT SWITCH FEATURE

Master power window switch has a lock-out switch that, when engaged, disconnects power supply to passenger window switches, preventing passenger windows from operating from individual window switches. Passenger windows can then only be operated from master power window switch.

PASSENGER WINDOW

When ignition switch is turned to RUN position, lockout switch disengaged, and individual window switch is pressed to down position, voltage is applied to window motor down control circuit causing that window to open. When individual window switch is pressed to up position, voltage is applied to window motor up control circuit and that window closes. Return path to ground is supplied through inactive control circuit being normally grounded through master power window switch. Operation is same from master power window switch, except that lockout switch position is ignored.

SYSTEM TESTS

Note. Connector Test Adapter Kit (J 35616-A) must be used whenever a diagnostic procedure requires checking or probing a terminal to prevent damage to terminal. To locate and identify terminals, see WIRING DIAGRAMS .
