Maintenance Schedule

IMPORTANTUse compressed natural gas (CNG) that meets the specifications of SAE J1616. These specifications place limits on particulate contamination and moisture content. CNG that meets these specifications provides improved driveability and emission control system performance. CNG that does not meet these specifications may cause fuel system or engine damage. If your GM dealer determines that the cause of the condition is the type of CNG used, repairs may not be covered under warranty.

This schedule information is supplemental to the gasoline service manual information. Refer to the G/H van Service Manual for additional maintenance items.

The services shown in this schedule up to 100 000 km (60,000 miles) should be performed after 100 000 km (60,000 miles) at the same intervals.

Every 12 500 km (7,500 Miles)

  1. Inspect the CNG fuel lines and the fittings for leaks.
  2. Inspect the CNG fill valve O-ring.
  3. Inspect the CNG fill valve filter.

Every 100 000 km (60,000 Miles)

  1. Remove and clean the CNG fill valve filter.
  2. Replace the in-line CNG filter.
  3. Replace the spark plugs.
  4. Inspect the spark plug wires.

Owner Checks and Services

This information is supplemental to the gasoline service manual information. Refer to the gasoline service manual for additional information.

Listed below is a check that should be performed at EACH fuel fill to help ensure the safety, dependability, and emission performance of the vehicle.

Fill Valve O-Ring

IMPORTANTAlways perform this check prior to each fuel fill.

Inspect the condition of the fill valve O-ring. Replace the O-ring if it is damaged or missing.

Periodic Maintenance Inspection

Listed below are inspections that should be performed at the specified intervals. Make any necessary repairs at once.

High Pressure Regulator (HPR) Coolant Hose Inspection

Inspect the high pressure regulator (HPR) coolant hoses twice a year (for example, spring and fall). Replace the hoses if they are cracked, swollen, or deteriorated. Inspect all fittings and clamps. Replace the fittings and the clamps if necessary.

CNG Fuel System Leak Inspection

Inspect the CNG fuel system for leaks once a year using an electronic or liquid leak detector. If a leak is found, replace the O-ring face seal (ORFS), fuel line, or component as required.

CNG Fuel Tank and Brackets

Every three years or 60 000 km (36,000 mi), whichever occurs first, inspect the CNG fuel tank and the mounting brackets for cracks, corrosion, or other damage. Replace the tank, brackets, and/or fasteners as required. Record the inspection date and the results in the CNG Fuel Tank Inspection Record in the owner's manual supplement.
