- Remove carburetor from engine and drain fuel into container. Place carburetor in a holding fixture, manifold side up.
- Use hacksaw to make 2 small parallel cuts on throttle body, one on each side of locator points beneath idle mixture plugs. Cuts should extend down to steel plug, but not extend more than 1/8" (3.2 mm) below locator points.
- Using a flat punch or chisel, break out throttle body between saw cuts to gain access to plugs. Use punch to drive out plug. If hardened plug shatters, remove loose pieces. Repeat procedure to remove remaining plug. Install carburetor on engine.
