Eliminating Unwanted Odors in Vehicles

GM Vehicle Care Odor Eliminator, GM P/N 12378554 (Canadian P/N 88901678), may control or eliminate odors in the interior and luggage compartment areas of GM vehicles. This non-toxic, biodegradable, odorless product has been shown to greatly reduce or remove the following types of odor

  1. Objectionable smells of mold and mildew resulting from vehicle water leaks
  2. Customer created odors, such as smoke

You may safely use GM Vehicle Care Odor Eliminator on fabrics, vinyl, leather, carpet, and sound deadening materials. You may also induce this product into HVAC modules and instrument panel ducts for the control of non-bacterial related odors.

IMPORTANTThis product leaves no residual scent and should not be used as an air freshener.

This product may result in the permanent elimination of an odor and may be preferable to customers whose allergies make them sensitive to perfumes. This product may effectively remove odors when directly contacting the odor source. In cases such as water leaks, use this product with diagnostic procedures to first eliminate the primary cause of the odor. Then use further applications on the residual odor to permanently correct the vehicle condition.

How to Use this Product

  1. Spray GM Vehicle Care Odor Eliminator directly or as an additive with carpet shampoo in steam cleaners.
  2. Do not use on any interior surface that plain water would deteriorate, because this product will have the same effect. Also avoid letting this product come into contact with vinegar or any acidic substance. Acid-based products will hamper the effectiveness of GM Vehicle Care Odor Eliminator.
  3. Instructions and cautions are printed on the bottle, but additional help is available. If you encounter a persistent or recurring odor, you may call to obtain additional information and usage suggestions. In the USA, call 1-800-955-8591. In Canada, call 1-800-977-4145.

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the front door sill plate. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Front»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  2. Remove the cowl side trim panel retainers.
  3. Remove the cowl side trim panel from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Align the cowl side trim panel to the retainer slots in the cowl.
  2. Install the cowl side trim panel by applying pressure at all the retainers locations until fully seated.
  3. Install the front door sill plate. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Front»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  1. Release the door with the handle and remove the door.
  2. Remove the screws holding the access plate.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the panel.
  4. Remove the panel.
  1. Align the panel with the access hole.
  2. Connect the electrical connectors to the panel.
  3. Screw the panel to the cargo side area. Tighten: Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
  4. Install the door access panel cover and lock the door with handle.
  1. Remove the front door sill plate.
  2. Remove the front door sill plate from the door sill.
  3. Remove the front door sill plate push-in retainers if required.
  1. Install the front door sill plate push-in retainers and the 4-way locator, pressing in place until fully seated.
  2. Align the front door sill plate to the 4-way locator and the push-in retainers.
  3. Install the front door sill plate to the push-in retainers, applying pressure to secure at all tab locations.
  1. Remove the rear door sill plate.
  2. Remove the rear door sill plate from the door sill.
  3. Remove the rear door sill plate push-in retainers if required.
  1. Install the rear door sill plate push-in retainers and the 4-way locator, pressing in place until fully seated.
  2. Align the rear door sill plate to the 4-way locator and the push-in retainers.
  3. Install the rear door sill plate to the push-in retainers, applying pressure to secure at all tab locations.
  1. Remove the endgate door sill plate.
  2. Remove the endgate door sill plate from the endgate sill.
  3. Remove the endgate sill plate push-in retainers if required.
  1. Install the endgate sill plate push-in retainers and the 4-way locator, pressing in place until fully seated.
  2. Align the endgate sill plate to the 4-way locator and the push-in retainers.
  3. Install the endgate sill plate to the push-in retainers, applying pressure to secure at all tab locations.
  1. Open the lift gate.
  2. Pull up to remove the door sill plate from the vehicle.
  1. Align the rear door sill plate and push in the retainers.
  2. Install the door sill plate by applying pressure to the tabs.
  3. Close the lift gate.

Floor Carpet Drying

If the carpet or the pad or insulator is wet, use the following criteria for drying or for replacing the components

  1. For a 1-piece carpet assembly bonded to a cotton or a fiber padding, replace the entire assembly.
  2. For a 2-piece carpet assembly with a cotton or a fiber padding, replace the padding only. While the carpet is out of the vehicle, dry the carpet using the method described below.
  3. For a 1-piece carpet assembly bonded to a foam padding or attached to a synthetic padding, dry the carpet using the method described below.
  4. For a 2-piece carpet assembly with a synthetic padding, dry the assembly using the method described below.

Drying Method

  1. If you observe puddles of liquid on the carpet face, use a wet vacuum to remove the excess moisture.
  2. Blot the face of the carpet with a towel in order to absorb as much moisture as possible.
  3. Point a fan at the affected area and air dry the carpet.

  2. Remove the rear seats. Refer to the following procedures in Seats: «Seat Replacement - Rear Bucket»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/seats/#seat-system) «Seat Replacement - Rear 50-50 Split»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/seats/#seat-system)
  3. Remove the rear seats anchor plate bezels. Refer to «Carpet Trim Plate Replacement - Rear Floor»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  4. Remove the rear cargo tray anchors, if equipped.
  5. Remove the front floor console. Refer to «Console Replacement - Front Floor (Aztek)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#instrument-panel-system-displays-gauges-and-console) or «Console Replacement - Front Floor (Rendezvous)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#instrument-panel-system-displays-gauges-and-console) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  6. Remove the front and rear door sill plates. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Front»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) and «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Rear»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  7. Remove the endgate sill plate. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Endgate»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  8. Remove the front cowl trim panels. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Cowl Side»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  9. Remove the center pillar lower trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Lower Center Pillar»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  10. Remove the rear lower quarter trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Lower (Aztek)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) or «Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Lower (Rendezvous)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  11. Remove the carpet from the vehicle.
  1. Install the carpet into the vehicle. Reach under the carpet and feed through any electrical harness.
  2. Install the rear quarter lower trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Lower (Aztek)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) or «Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Lower (Rendezvous)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  3. Install the center pillar lower trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Lower Center Pillar»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  4. Install the front and rear door sill plates. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Front»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) and «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Rear»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  5. Install the endgate sill plate. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Endgate»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  6. Install the front cowl trim panels. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Cowl Side»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  7. Install the front floor console. Refer to «Console Replacement - Front Floor (Aztek)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#instrument-panel-system-displays-gauges-and-console) or «Console Replacement - Front Floor (Rendezvous)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#instrument-panel-system-displays-gauges-and-console) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  8. Install the rear seats anchor plate bezels. Refer to «Carpet Trim Plate Replacement - Rear Floor»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  9. Install the front seats. Refer to «Seat Replacement - Bucket»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/seats/#seat-system) in Seats.
  10. Install the rear seats. Refer to the following procedures in Seats: «Seat Replacement - Rear Bucket»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/seats/#seat-system) «Seat Replacement - Rear 50-50 Split»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/seats/#seat-system)
  11. Install the rear cargo tray anchors, if equipped.

Tools Required

J 38778 Door Trim Pad Clip Remover

  1. Remove the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  2. Remove the sunroof switch, if equipped. Refer to «Sunroof Switch Replacement»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof-system) in Roof.
  3. Remove the overhead console, if equipped. Refer to «Console Replacement - Overhead (Rendezvous)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) or «Console Replacement - Overhead (Aztek)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  4. Remove the sunshades. Refer to «Sunshade Replacement»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  5. Remove the assist handle and rear coat hook. Refer to «Assist Handle and Rear Coat Hook Replacement (Aztek)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) or «Assist Handle and Rear Coat Hook Replacement (Rendezvous)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  6. Remove the rear coat hook. Refer to «Coat Hook Replacement (Rendezvous)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  7. Remove the assist handle. Refer to «Assist Handle Replacement (Rendezvous)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  8. Remove the upper center trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Upper Center Pillar»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  9. Remove the rear quarter upper trim. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (Aztek)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) or «Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (Rendezvous)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  10. Remove the cargo lamp. Refer to «Cargo Lamp Replacement»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exterior-lights/#lighting-systems) .
  11. Use J 38778 in order to remove the rear headliner push-in retainers.
  12. Remove the headliner from the roof through the rear of the vehicle.
  1. Install the headliner to the roof through the rear of the vehicle.
  2. Push the headliner rearwards in order to lock the headliner into place.
  3. Install the rear headliner push-in retainers.
  4. Install the cargo lamp. Refer to «Cargo Lamp Replacement»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exterior-lights/#lighting-systems) .
  5. Install the rear quarter upper trim. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (Aztek)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) or «Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (Rendezvous)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  6. Install the upper center pillar trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Upper Center Pillar»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  7. Install the assist handle. Refer to «Assist Handle Replacement (Rendezvous)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  8. Install the assist handle and rear coat hook. Refer to «Assist Handle and Rear Coat Hook Replacement (Aztek)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) or «Assist Handle and Rear Coat Hook Replacement (Rendezvous)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  9. Install the rear coat hook. Refer to «Coat Hook Replacement (Rendezvous)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  10. Install the sunroof switch. Refer to «Sunroof Switch Replacement»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof-system) in Roof.
  11. Install the sunshades. Refer to «Sunshade Replacement»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  12. Install the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .

J 38778 Door Trim Pad Clip Remover

  1. Remove the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  2. Remove the sunroof switch, if equipped. Refer to «Sunroof Switch Replacement»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof-system) in Roof.
  3. Remove the sunroof lace, if equipped.
  4. Remove the sunshades. Refer to «Sunshade Replacement»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  5. Remove the overhead console, if equipped. Refer to «Console Replacement - Overhead (Rendezvous)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) or «Console Replacement - Overhead (Aztek)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  6. Remove the upper center trim panels. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Upper Center Pillar»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  7. Remove the upper quarter trim panels. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (Aztek)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) or «Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (Rendezvous)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  8. Remove the rear upper garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Rear Upper»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  9. Remove the left and the right lamps from the roof side rail. Refer to «Roof Side Rail Lamp Replacement»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exterior-lights/#lighting-systems) .
  10. Use J 38778 in order to remove the rear headliner push-in retainers.
  11. Remove the headliner from the roof through the rear of the vehicle.
  1. Install the headliner to the roof through the rear of the vehicle.
  2. Push the headliner rearwards in order to lock the headliner into place.
  3. Install the rear headliner push-in retainers.
  4. Install the left and the right lamps to the roof side rail. Refer to «Roof Side Rail Lamp Replacement»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exterior-lights/#lighting-systems) .
  5. Install the upper quarter trim panels. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (Aztek)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) or «Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (Rendezvous)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  6. Install the rear upper garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Rear Upper»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  7. Install the upper center pillar trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Upper Center Pillar»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  8. Install the sunroof switch. Refer to «Sunroof Switch Replacement»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof-system) in Roof.
  9. Install the sunroof lace.
  10. Install the overhead console. «Console Replacement - Overhead (Rendezvous)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) or «Console Replacement - Overhead (Aztek)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  11. Install the sunshades. Refer to «Sunshade Replacement»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  12. Install the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  1. Pull down on the assist handle in order to expose the retaining screws (1).
  2. Remove the assist handle screws (1).
  3. Remove the assist handle.
  1. Position the assist handle in the vehicle.
  2. Install the assist handle screws (1). Tighten: Tighten the assist handle screws to 3 N.m (27 lb in).
  1. Rotate the assist handle downward.
  2. Remove the fasteners (1) from the handle assembly.
  3. Remove the bulb socket assembly from the lamp assembly.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  5. Remove the assist handle assembly.
  1. Connect the electrical connectors.
  2. Install the bulb socket in the lamp assembly.
  3. Position the pull handle.
  4. Install the fasteners (1). Tighten: Tighten the fasteners to 3 N.m (27 lb in).
  1. Rotate the assist handle downward.
  2. Remove the screws from the handle assembly.
  3. Remove the bulb socket assembly from the lamp assembly.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  5. Remove the assist handle assembly.
  1. Connect the electrical connectors.
  2. Install the bulb socket in the lamp assembly.
  3. Position the pull handle.
  4. Install the screws to the assist handle and coat hook. Tighten: Tighten the screws to 3 N.m (27 lb in).

Remove the screw that secures the coat hook to the headliner. Remove the coat hook.

Note. Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

Install the coat hook to the headliner. Secure with the coat hook screw.

Tighten: Tighten the screw to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

  1. Remove the sunshade from the side hooks in the rear of the vehicle.
  2. Place the sunshade cover in the pocket and store in the rear of vehicle.
  1. Remove the luggage shade from the pocket assembly.
  2. Install 4 hooks into the rings on each side of the rear luggage area.
  1. Open the OnStar(R) door panel from the overhead console.
  2. Disconnect the OnStar(R) electrical connectors.
  3. Remove the screws from the overhead console.
  4. Open the garage door panel and remove the screws.
  5. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  6. Remove the overhead console from the vehicle.
  1. Connect the electrical connectors for the garage door and the OnStar(R) consoles.
  2. Install the overhead console to the vehicle.
  3. Install the overhead console screws. Tighten: Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
  4. Close the garage door panel and the OnStar(R) door on the overhead console.
  1. Open the overhead compartments in order to access the fasteners.
  2. Remove the screws.
  3. Remove the second seat audio control from the overhead console, if equipped. Refer to «Audio Control Replacement - Second Seat (Aztek)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/entertainment-systems/#entertainment-system) or «Audio Control Replacement - Second Seat (Rendezvous)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/entertainment-systems/#entertainment-system) in Entertainment.
  4. Remove the overhead console from the vehicle.
  1. Install the screws to the overhead compartments. Tighten: Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
  2. Install the second seat audio controls to the overhead console. Refer to «Audio Control Replacement - Second Seat (Aztek)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/entertainment-systems/#entertainment-system) or «Audio Control Replacement - Second Seat (Rendezvous)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/entertainment-systems/#entertainment-system) in Entertainment.
  3. Close the overhead compartment doors.
  1. Release the sunshade from the anchor attachment.
  2. Remove the sunshade screw from the headliner.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the sunshade.
  4. Remove the sunshade.
  1. Connect the electrical connectors to the sunshade.
  2. Install the sunshade to the headliner with screws. Tighten: Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
  3. Install the sunshade to the anchor attachment.
  1. Remove the sunshade from the anchor.
  2. Remove the screw from the sunshade anchor.
  3. Remove the sunshade anchor from the headliner.
  1. Align the sunshade anchor to the headliner.
  2. Install the sunshade anchor to the headliner. Tighten: Tighten the anchor screw to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
  3. Attach the sunshade to the sunshade anchor.
  1. Remove the windshield garnish molding from the windshield pillar by pulling the windshield garnish molding to release the push-in retainers.
  2. Remove the windshield garnish molding from the windshield pillar.
  1. Align the windshield garnish molding to the trough on the upper instrument panel trim panel.
  2. Align the windshield garnish molding to the retainers slots in the windshield pillar.
  3. Install the windshield garnish molding, applying pressure at all the retainer locations until fully seated.
  1. Remove the rear upper garnish molding by pulling the rear roof garnish molding to release the push-in retainers.
  2. Remove the seat belt escutcheon from the rear roof garnish molding using a small flat bladed tool.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the rear cargo lamp.
  4. Remove the rear seat belt from the slot in the rear roof garnish molding.
  5. Remove the rear roof garnish molding from the vehicle.
  1. Install the rear seat belt to the slot in the rear roof garnish molding.
  2. Connect the electrical connector to the rear cargo lamp.
  3. Install the seat belt escutcheon to the rear roof garnish molding.
  4. Install the push-in retainers to the rear roof garnish molding, applying pressure on the molding to secure at all retainer locations.

  2. Release the T-pin retainer in the anchor plate bezel using a small flat-bladed tool.
  3. Remove the anchor plate bezel from the floor.
  1. Position the anchor plate bezel to the floor.
  2. Install the T-pin on the anchor plate using a small flat-bladed tool, pressing into place until fully seated.

  1. Remove the upper seat belt guide loop attachment from the adjuster bracket. Refer to «Shoulder Belt Guide Adjuster Replacement - Front»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/restraints-control-systems/#seat-belt-system) in Seat Belts.
  2. Remove the lower center pillar trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Lower Center Pillar»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  3. Remove the upper center pillar trim panel from the center pillar, by pulling the upper center pillar trim panel to release the push-in retainers.
  1. Align the upper center pillar trim panel to the center pillar.
  2. Install the upper center pillar trim panel by applying pressure at all the retainers locations until fully seated.
  3. Install the lower center pillar trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Lower Center Pillar»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  4. Install the upper seat belt upper guide loop attachment to the adjuster bracket. Refer to «Shoulder Belt Guide Adjuster Replacement - Front»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/restraints-control-systems/#seat-belt-system) in Seat Belts.
  1. Remove the front and rear door sill plates. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Front»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) and «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Rear»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  2. Remove the upper seat belt guide loop attachment from the adjuster bracket. Refer to «Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Right Front (Pontiac)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/restraints-control-systems/#seat-belt-system) in Seat Belts.
  3. Remove the front seat belt from the front seat.   4. Remove the seat belt escutcheon from the center lower trim panel using a small flat bladed tool.
  5. Remove the lower center pillar trim panel from the center pillar, by pulling the upper center pillar trim panel to release the push-in retainers.
  6. Remove the front seat belt from the slot in the lower center pillar trim panel.
  7. Remove the lower center pillar trim panel from the vehicle.
  1. Install the seat belt to the slot into the center lower trim panel.
  2. Align the center lower trim panel to the center pillar.
  3. Install the center lower trim panel push-in retainers, applying pressure at all the retainers locations until fully seated.
  4. Install the seat belt escutcheon to the center lower trim panel, applying pressure at all the retainers locations until fully seated.
  5. Install the upper seat belt guide loop attachment to the adjuster bracket. Refer to «Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Right Front (Pontiac)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/restraints-control-systems/#seat-belt-system) in Seat Belts.
  6. Install the front seat belt to the front seat.   7. Install the front and rear door sill plates. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Front»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) and «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Rear»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  1. Remove the rear roof garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Rear Upper»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  2. Remove the rear seat belt guide loop from the rear upper quarter trim panel. Refer to «Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Rear»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/restraints-control-systems/#seat-belt-system) in Seat Belts.
  3. Remove the screw from the rear upper quarter trim panel.
  4. Remove the push pins from the upper quarter trim.
  5. Remove the trim panel from the inner panel, by pulling the panel to release the push-in retainers.
  6. Remove the trim panel from the vehicle.
  1. Align the push-in retainers on the upper trim panel to the inner panel.
  2. Install the push-in retainers, applying pressure to secure the panel at all of the retainer locations.
  3. Install the push pins to the upper quarter trim.
  4. Install the rear seat belt guide loop to the rear upper quarter trim panel. Refer to «Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Rear»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/restraints-control-systems/#seat-belt-system) in Seat Belts.
  5. Install the upper quarter screw.
  6. Install the rear roof garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Rear Upper»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  1. Remove the rear seat belt guide loop from the rear upper quarter trim panel. Refer to «Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Rear»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/restraints-control-systems/#seat-belt-system) in Seat Belts.
  2. Remove the trim panel from the inner panel, by pulling the panel to release the push-in retainers.
  3. Remove the trim panel from the vehicle.
  1. Align the push-in retainers on the upper trim panel to the inner panel.
  2. Install the push-in retainers, applying pressure on the panel to secure at all of the retainers locations.
  3. Install the rear seat belt guide loop to the rear upper quarter trim panel. Refer to «Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Rear»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/restraints-control-systems/#seat-belt-system) in Seat Belts.
  1. Remove the endgate plate. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Endgate»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  2. Remove the rear seat belt. Refer to «Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Rear»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/restraints-control-systems/#seat-belt-system) in Seat Belts.
  3. Remove the rear upper quarter trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (Aztek)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) or «Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (Rendezvous)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  4. Remove the bolts from the rear quarter lower trim panel at the cargo tie down locations.
  5. Remove the rear quarter lower trim panel from the inner panel by pulling the panel to release the push-in retainers.
  6. Remove the lower trim panel from the vehicle.
  1. Align the lower trim panel push-in retainers to the inner panel.
  2. Install the lower trim panel by applying pressure on the panel to secure all of the push-in retainer locations.
  3. Install the bolts to the lower trim panel at the cargo tie down locations. Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 6 N.m (53 lb in).
  4. Install the rear upper quarter trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (Aztek)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) or «Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (Rendezvous)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  5. Install the rear seat belt. Refer to «Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Rear»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/restraints-control-systems/#seat-belt-system) in Seat Belts.
  6. Install the endgate sill plate. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Endgate»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  1. Remove the rear No. 2 seat. Refer to «Seat Replacement - Rear No. 2 (Buick)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/seats/#seat-system) in Seats.
  2. Remove the seat belt guide loops from the rear seat and from the rear No. 2 seat. Refer to «Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Rear»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/restraints-control-systems/#seat-belt-system) and to «Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - No. 2 Rear»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/restraints-control-systems/#seat-belt-system) in Seat Belts.
  3. Remove the upper trim panels from the rear quarter. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (Aztek)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) or «Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (Rendezvous)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  4. Remove the bolts which secure the cargo net tie-down loops.
  5. Remove the cargo net tie-down loops from the rear quarter trim panel.
  6. Remove the rear quarter trim panel from the vehicle.
  1. Install the rear quarter trim panel to the vehicle.
  2. Install the cargo net tie-down loops to the rear quarter trim panel. Secure the loops with bolts. Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 6 N.m (53 lb in).
  3. Install the upper trim panels. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (Aztek)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) or «Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (Rendezvous)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  4. Install the seat belt guide loops to the rear seat and to the rear No. 2 seat. Refer to «Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Rear»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/restraints-control-systems/#seat-belt-system) and to «Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - No. 2 Rear»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/restraints-control-systems/#seat-belt-system) in Seat Belts.
  5. Install the rear No. 2 seat. Refer to «Seat Replacement - Rear No. 2 (Buick)»(/buick/rendezvous/i-2001-2007/remont/seats/#seat-system) in Seats.
  1. Open the lift gate.
  2. Open the rear compartment storage lid.
  3. Remove the seat anchor nuts from the rear storage compartment.
  4. Remove the rear storage compartment.
  1. Install the rear storage compartment to the seat anchor studs
  2. Install the seat anchor nuts to the rear storage compartment. Tighten: Tighten the nuts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft.)
  3. Close the rear storage compartment.
  4. Close the lift gate
