Installation Procedure

  1. Install the headlamp switch (2) to the IP trim plate. (Scheme 167) CAUTION: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  2. Install the fastener (1). Tighten the fastener to 2 N.m (18 in lbs).
  3. Connect the electrical connectors (2, 3). (Scheme 166)
  4. Install the IP trim plate. Refer to «TRIM PLATE REPLACEMENT - IP ACCESSORY LEFT»(/buick/lesabre/viii-2000-2005/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#instrument-panel-gauges-console) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  1. Remove the left IP closeout/insulator panel. Refer to «CLOSEOUT/INSULATOR PANEL REPLACEMENT - LEFT»(/buick/lesabre/viii-2000-2005/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#instrument-panel-gauges-console) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  2. Remove the turn signal/hazard warning flasher (2) from the IP carrier.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the turn signal/hazard warning flasher (2).
