4Instrument Panel Assembly Procedure Note location and routing of the instrument panel wiring harness in order to ensure proper reinstallation. Disconnect electrical connections. When replacing the instrument panel assembly, transfer the instrument panel inflatable restraint module. Refer to Instrument Panel Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement . When replacing the instrument panel assembly, transfer all other necessary components.

Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the instrument panel assembly. Refer to «Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement»(/buick/lacrosse/ii-2009-2013/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#instrument-panel-trim-and-console-trim) .
  2. Remove the right and left body hinge pillar trim panels. Refer to «Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement»(/buick/lacrosse/ii-2009-2013/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-interior-paneling) .
  3. Note the location and routing of the instrument panel electrical harness assembly, to ensure proper reinstallation.
  4. Disconnect the fasteners securing the instrument panel electrical harness assembly to the instrument panel tie bar and position out of the way.
  5. Remove the 4 fasteners (1, 2) securing the instrument tie bar assembly to the HVAC module assembly.
  6. Remove the 4 fasteners securing the brake and accelerator pedal assembly to the tie bar. Refer to «Brake and Accelerator Pedal Assembly Replacement»(/buick/lacrosse/ii-2009-2013/remont/mechanical-hydraulic/#hydraulic-brake-system) .
  7. Remove the 6 fasteners (1) securing the instrument panel tie bar assembly to the vehicle body.
  8. Support the HVAC module assembly, as needed.
  9. Remove the instrument panel tie bar assembly (1) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the instrument panel tie bar assembly into the vehicle.
  2. Install the 6 fasteners (1) securing the instrument panel tie bar assembly to the vehicle body and tighten to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).
  3. Install the 4 fasteners (1, 2) securing the instrument tie bar assembly to the HVAC module assembly and tighten to 4 N.m (35 lb in).
  4. Install the 4 fasteners securing the brake and accelerator pedal assembly to the tie bar. Refer to «Brake and Accelerator Pedal Assembly Replacement»(/buick/lacrosse/ii-2009-2013/remont/mechanical-hydraulic/#hydraulic-brake-system) .
  5. Reposition the instrument panel wiring harness into vehicle position as was noted in the removal process and connect the fasteners securing the instrument panel electrical harness assembly to the instrument panel tie bar.
  6. Install the right and left body hinge pillar trim panels. Refer to «Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement»(/buick/lacrosse/ii-2009-2013/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-interior-paneling) .
  7. Install the instrument panel trim pad assembly. Refer to «Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement»(/buick/lacrosse/ii-2009-2013/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#instrument-panel-trim-and-console-trim) .
