Scheme 20: 2.2L

3.0L

For the primary location of the Vehicle Identification Number (Scheme 21)

Scheme 21

Scheme 21: 3.0L

3.1L

The primary location of the VIN derivative for the 3100 LG8 engine is above the starter motor on the engine block. (Scheme 22) The primary location is on top of the right rocker arm cover and the secondary location is in front of the oil pan rail. (Scheme 23)

Scheme 22

Scheme 22: 3.1L

Scheme 23

Scheme 23

3.2L (LA3)

The 3.2L (LA3) VIN Derivative is stamped on a metal plate located on the left side of the engine. A 6-digit stamping with emission and compression (2) is also stamped on the engine. (Scheme 24)and (Scheme 25).

3.4L

The primary (1) and optional (2) location of the VIN derivative for the 3400 LA1 engine is on the lower left front transaxle mounting surface. (Scheme 26) The primary location (1) of the Engine ID for the 3400 (LA1) engine is on top of the rocker arm cover or in front of the right oil pan rail. The optional (2) location is on the lower left front transaxle mounting surface. (Scheme 27)

VEHICLE CERTIFICATION LABEL

The vehicle certification label is permanently located on the edge of the driver's door. Refer to this label in order to obtain the following information

  1. The Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR)
  2. The Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR), Front and Rear

The Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) must not exceed the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR). The GVW is the weight of the vehicle and everything the vehicle carries. Include the following items when figuring the GVW

  1. Base Vehicle Weight (Factory Weight)
  2. Weight Of Any Added Vehicle Accessories
  3. Weight Of The Driver & Passenger
  4. Weight Of Any Cargo Being Carried

The front and rear Gross Axle Weights (GAW) must not exceed the Gross Axle Weight Ratings (GAWR), front and rear. The GAW is the weight exerted on one of the axles (front or rear).
