A/C refrigerant R-134a and refrigerant oil (PAG), capacities
Refrigerant R-134a
Note. Always refer to safety measures. Refer to A/C refrigerant system, safety measures. When charging the system on the high pressure side, always use the maximum amount of A/C refrigerant, as some of the refrigerant remains in the hoses of the refrigerant recovery, recycling and recharging unit. An information sticker with data on the capacity and the type of refrigerant is located in the engine compartment.

Approved refrigerant (PAG) oils
Note. The oils for refrigerant R12 are not compatible with refrigerant R134a. The oil is special and only for refrigerant R134a cycle. It can no longer be obtained under the name "refrigerant machine oil." Refrigerant oils are specific for each compressor (e.g.: "Sanden", "Denso", "Zexel" etc.). Only use specified refrigerant oil in the refrigerant system. R-134a refrigerant system oil (PAG oil) absorbs moisture very rapidly. Moisture combines with the refrigerant to form acids which will damage the system. Use only the specified oil from a sealed container and ALWAYS reseal the oil container immediately after use. DO NOT use oil if it has become contaminated with moisture or if container has been left open.
| CAUTION | Refrigerant oils used for R-134a and R-12 systems are NOT compatible. DO NOT use the oil for an R-12 system in an R-134a system. If refrigerant oils are mixed, the system will be contaminated and compressor failure may result. R-134a refrigerant oil (PAG oil) absorbs moisture very rapidly. Note. The refrigerant oil capacity for a replacement Sanden compressor represents the total refrigerant oil capacity of the refrigerant system. When installing a replacement compressor, it is necessary to compensate for the amount of refrigerant remaining in the system (compressor removed) by draining a certain amount of oil from the replacement compressor. Refer to A/C refrigerant system, replacing components. When A/C is switched on for the first time, the refrigerant oil is distributed throughout the entire system. When replacing A/C system components, add appropriate amount of refrigerant oil to component. Refer to A/C refrigerant system, replacing components.
