1. Test generator using Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing info. System VAS 5051B (or other VAS 505X class tester) in operating mode "Guided Fault Finding".

1. Connect tester --> «Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051B, Connecting»(/audi/tt/8n-2003-2006/remont/cruise-control-systems/#electrical-equipment-general-information__vehicle-diagnosis-testing-and-information-system)

After tester has established communication with vehicle and interrogated all vehicle systems

1. Select operating mode "Guided Fault Finding"

1. Press Go to button

1. Select "Function / Component Selection"

1. Select "Electrical equipment (Rep. Gr.01; 27; 90-97"

1. Select "27 - Battery, Starter, Generator, Cruise Control"

1. Select "Electrical components"

1. Select "C - Generator (GEN), testing (RG 27)"

1. Follow testers prompts

4 - Voltage Regulator (VR)

1. Removing

1. Remove screws - item 1 - and remove protective cap - item 2 -.

1. Remove screws - item 3 - and remove voltage regulator.

1. Carbon brush wear limit: 5 mm

5 - Generator (GEN)
