- Used Oil Collecting and Extracting Device V.A.G 1782
- Oil Drain Adapter T40057
Remove the dust cap -arrow- on the oil filter housing.
Scheme 1
Hold the T40057 in the V.A.G 1782.
Install the oil drain adapter in the oil filter housing.
Scheme 2
- A valve in the filter housing opens when the oil drain adapter is installed.
Let the engine oil drain.

Tighten the oil pan bolts in three stages as follows
Tighten the bolts from the oil pan to the cylinder block -1 to 20- in a diagonal sequence to 5 Nm.
Tighten the bolts from the oil pan to the transmission -arrows- to 40 Nm.
Tighten the bolts from the oil pan to the cylinder block -1 to 20- in a diagonal sequence to 15 Nm.

Oil Pan - Tightening Specifications and Sequence
Tighten the oil pan bolts in three stages as follows
Tighten the bolts from the oil pan to the cylinder block -1 to 20- in a diagonal sequence to 5 Nm.
Tighten the bolts from the oil pan to the transmission -arrows- to 40 Nm.
Tighten the bolts from the oil pan to the cylinder block -1 to 20- in a diagonal sequence to 15 Nm.
Oil Dipstick Guide Tube - Tightening Specifications
Tighten the double bolt -arrow- to 6 Nm.
Balance Shaft Housing Bolts
A - Collar bolt M7x40
B - Collar bolt M7x70
C - Collar bolt M7x90
D - Collar bolt M7x55
E - Sealing plug with O-ring
Balance Shaft Housing - Tightening Specifications and Sequence
Replace the balance shaft housing bolts -arrows-.
Tighten bolts in 3 stages as follows
Install bolts by hand as far as the stop.
Tighten to 15 Nm in a diagonal sequence from inside to outside.
Tighten an additional 90° in a diagonal sequence from inside to outside.
OIL PRESSURE, CHECKING
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Oil Pressure Gauge V.A.G 1342
Procedure
- Oil level OK
- Engine oil temperature approximately 80 °C (176 °F).
Remove oil pressure switch. Refer to Oil Pressure Switch -F1 .
Install the oil pressure switch in the V.A.G 1342.
Install the V.A.G 1342 in the hole for the oil pressure switch in the oil filter bracket.
Start the engine.
- Oil pressure at idle at least 1.2 bar.
- Oil pressure at 2000 RPM at least 2.7 bar.
Install oil pressure switch, refer to Oil Pressure Switch -F1 .
ENGINE OIL, CHECKING LEVEL
Maintenance Procedures
Oil Pressure Switch -F1-, CHECKING
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Oil Pressure Gauge V.A.G 1342
- Voltage Tester V.A.G 1527B
- Connector Test Set V.A.G 1594C
Procedure
- Oil level OK
- Engine oil temperature approximately 80 °C (176 °F).
Remove oil pressure switch. Refer to Oil Pressure Switch -F1 .
Install the oil pressure switch in the V.A.G 1342.
Install the V.A.G 1342 in the hole for the oil pressure switch in the oil filter bracket.
Scheme 13
Connect the V.A.G 1527B to the battery positive and an oil pressure switch connection with lines from the V.A.G 1594C.
Connect the second oil pressure switch connection to ground.
- LED must not light up.
If the LED lights up with the engine at standstill, replace oil pressure switch.
Start the engine.
Note. Watch the oil pressure gauge and LED when starting the engine because the oil pressure switch switching point may be exceeded when starting.
- The LED must illuminate at 1.2 to 1.6 bar.
If the LED does not light up, replace oil pressure switch.
Install oil pressure switch. Refer to Oil Pressure Switch -F1 .
Oil Level Thermal Sensor -G266
Removing
Drain engine oil.
Disconnect the connector -5-.
Scheme 14
Remove the three bolts -1- and the cover -2-.
Remove the oil level thermal sensor -3- from the oil pan and remove it with the seal -4-.
Installing
- For the correct tightening specifications, refer to «OIL PAN OVERVIEW»(/audi/tt/8j-2010-2014/remont/lubrication-system/#20l-lubrication-engine-codes-cdma-coupe__oil-pan-overview) .
Installation is done is reverse order, observe the following
Note. Replace the seal.
Fill the engine oil and check the oil level.
OIL PAN
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Hex Ball Socket T10058
- Hand drill with plastic brush attachment
- Protective eyewear
- Sealant.
Removing
Drain engine oil. .
Remove the right noise insulation -arrows-.
Scheme 15
On the TTS Roadster, remove the noise insulation frame -arrow- with the rear noise insulation. Refer to Removal and Installation .
Scheme 16
Remove the bolts -arrows- and the air guide pipe.
Scheme 17
Remove the bolt -1-.
Scheme 18
Note. Ignore items -2, 3 and 4- and the -arrow-.
Disconnect the connector -1- from the oil level thermal sensor.
Scheme 19
Remove the turbocharger oil return line bolts -arrows-.
Remove the bolts -arrows- from the oil pan to the transmission.
Remove the bolts -1 through 20- from the oil pan to the cylinder block in a diagonal sequence.
Carefully loosen the oil pan from the bond without bending it.
Installing
- Tightening specifications (Scheme 4)
| CAUTION | Risk of contaminating lubricating system and bearing. Cover open parts of engine. |
| WARNING | Risk of eye injury. Wear protective eyewear. |
Remove the sealant residue on the cylinder block and the oil pan, for example using a rotating plastic brush.
Scheme 20
Clean the sealing surfaces; they must be free of oil and grease.
Note. Note the expiration date of the sealing compound.
Cut the tube nozzle at the front marking (nozzle diameter approximately 2 mm).
Scheme 21
| CAUTION | The lubrication system could be plugged with excess sealant. Do not apply sealant bead thicker than indicated. |
Apply a sealant bead to the clean sealing surface on the oil pan as illustrated.
- Thickness of sealant bead: 2 to 3 mm.
Note. Carefully apply a sealant bead in the sealing flange area -arrows-. The oil pan must be installed within 5 minutes after applying the sealant.
Position the oil pan and tighten the bolts. (Scheme 4)
Note. When installing the oil pan on an engine that has been removed, make sure the transmission side of the oil pan seals flush with the cylinder block. Allow the sealant to dry for approximately 30 minutes after installing the oil pan. Only after then may the engine oil be replenished.
The rest of the installation is performed in reverse order of removal, noting the following
Install the air guide pipe. Refer to CHARGE AIR COOLER OVERVIEW .
Install the noise insulation frame. Refer to Removal and Installation .
Fill the engine oil and check the oil level. .
BALANCE SHAFT MODULE WITH OIL PUMP

- Connecting Pin T10027
Removing
Removing oil pan. Refer to OIL PAN
Remove the bolts -arrows- and the upper toothed belt guard.
Scheme 22
| CAUTION | Components could be destroyed by the toothed belt jump off. Only rotate the crankshaft in the direction of engine rotation. |
Turn the crankshaft by the toothed belt crankshaft sprocket bolt until the camshaft sprocket is at "TDC".
Scheme 23
- The marking on the camshaft sprocket must align with the arrow on the toothed belt guard -top arrow-.
- The notch on the vibration damper must align with the arrow on the toothed belt guard -bottom arrow-.
Remove the guard; if necessary, release the tabs through the openings -arrows- with a small screwdriver.
Scheme 24
Loosening the bolt for the oil pump chain sprocket, while doing this counter hold the crankshaft by the toothed belt sprocket bolt.
Scheme 25
Release the tension on the chain rail with a screwdriver -arrow- and secure it with the 3 mm socket wrench -1-.
Scheme 26
Remove the oil pump chain tensioner and disengage the drive chain at the balance shaft drive.
Scheme 27
Remove the bolts -1- and -2- and the oil baffle.
Scheme 28
Note. Ignore -arrows-.
Loosen the bolts -arrows- from the outside to the inside.
Remove the bolts and the balance shaft module.
Installing

Note. Replace bolts which have been tightened to torque. Replace balance shaft assembly bolt gasket BALANCE SHAFT MODULE WITH OIL PUMP OVERVIEW .
TENSION THE CHAIN TENSIONER IF NECESSARY
Tension the pistons by hand -arrow-.
Scheme 29
Press the chain rail in the direction of the -arrow- and secure with the 3 mm hex socket wrench -1-.
Scheme 30
Position the intermediate plate on the balance shaft module alignment sleeves -arrows- as illustrated.
Scheme 31
Position the balance shaft module with the oil pump and intermediate plate.
Insert bolts -arrows- that are the correct length. (Scheme 8)and tighten them. (Scheme 9)
Insert the oil baffle pins -arrows- in the balance shaft module to install.
Make sure the camshaft and crankshaft are at "TDC"
- The markings on the camshaft -top arrow- and crankshaft -bottom arrow- must align.
The marking -arrow- on the balance shaft chain sprocket aligns with the locating hole.
Scheme 32
Secure the balance shaft chain sprocket in this position with the T10027.
Place the drive chain on the balance shaft chain sprocket.
Install the oil pump chain sprocket. Tighten the bolt as far as the stop.
- The oil pump chain sprocket only fits in one position.
- Only rotate the oil pump when installing.
Remove the 3 mm hex socket wrench -1-.
Counterhold the crankshaft at the toothed belt sprocket bolt to tighten the oil pump chain sprocket bolt.
The rest of the installation is performed in reverse order of removal, noting the following
Install the upper toothed belt guard. Refer to TOOTHED BELT DRIVE OVERVIEW .
Install oil pan. Refer to OIL PAN .
OIL COOLER
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Hose Clip Pliers V.A.G 1921
- Drip Tray VAS 6208
- Assembly Tool T10118
Removing
Drain the coolant. Refer to COOLING SYSTEM, DRAINING AND FILLING .
Remove fan shroud. Refer to FAN SHROUD .
Remove the noise insulation frame -arrow- with the rear noise insulation. Refer to Removal and Installation .
Disconnect the connector -3-.
Scheme 33
Remove bolt -arrow-.
Remove the hose -2-.
Loosen the hose clamp -1- and then remove the turbocharger recirculating valve -N249- with the hose still connected -4- from the air guide pipe and lay it to the side.
Disconnect the connector -arrow- on the charge air pressure sensor -G31-.
Remove the bolt -1- and nut -4-.
Loosen the hose clamp -2- and remove the air guide pipe.
Note. Ignore -3-.
Remove the coolant hose by loosening the hose clamp -1-.
Scheme 34
Disconnect the connector -2- from the Mass Airflow (MAF) Sensor -G70-.
Detach upper section of air filter housing -arrow- and remove air filter insert.
Remove the bolts -arrows- and the lower section of the air filter housing.

Release the electrical connector -arrow- on the oil pressure switch -F1- with the T10118 and remove.

Place the VAS 6208 under engine.

Remove the coolant hose -1-.
Remove the bolts -arrows- and the oil cooler.
Installing

Installation is done is reverse order, observe the following
Note. Replace seals and sealing rings. The hose supports, air guide pipes and hoses must be free of oil and grease before installing. Secure all hose connections with hose clamps appropriate for the model. To mount the charge hoses on their connectors securely, spray the bolts on the used clamps with rust remover before installing.
Install the air guide pipe. Refer to CHARGE AIR COOLER OVERVIEW .
Install the air filter housing and the air filter. Refer to Removal and Installation .
Install the noise insulation frame. Refer to Removal and Installation .
Install fan shroud. Refer to FAN SHROUD .
Fill with coolant. Refer to COOLING SYSTEM, DRAINING AND FILLING => Filling .
OIL FILTER BRACKET
Removing
Remove the oil cooler. Refer to OIL COOLER .
Drain the oil filter housing. Refer to OIL FILTER HOUSING, DRAINING .
Press the release buttons and remove the crankcase ventilation pipe -1-.

Installing

Removing
Remove the bolts -arrows- and air guide.

Remove the coolant hose by loosening the hose clamp -1-.
Disconnect the connector -2- from the Mass Airflow (MAF) Sensor -G70-.
Detach upper section of air filter housing -arrow- and remove air filter insert.
Remove the bolts -arrows- and the lower section of the air filter housing.
Release the electrical connector -arrow- on the oil pressure switch with the T10118 and remove.
Remove the oil pressure switch with the T40175.
