Compressor drive unit, checking, replacing

Note. If drive plate overload protection activates, check compressor for ease of motion before replacing the drive unit. If compressor creates friction, replace it completely.

1 - Compressor drive unit

1. Check, drive shaft must be seated free of play in splines of engine drive wheel with thread tightened --> «Compressor drive shaft, removing and installing»(ref-289225-S24212533462008062700000) .
2. Tightening torque 60 Nm
3. Loosening and tightening --> «Compressor drive shaft, loosening and tightening»(ref-289225-S38025576562008062700000)
4. Removing and installing --> «Compressor drive shaft, removing and installing»(ref-289225-S24212533462008062700000)

1. Lubricate splines of engine drive wheel using G 000 100 clutch splining grease .

2 - Hex socket head bolt

1. Tightening torque 10 Nm

3 - Drive plate

1. With overload safeguard, triggers when torque is too-high (e.g. compressor produces friction) and drive shaft runs freely without driving the compressor.
2. Run-out, checking and adjusting --> «Drive plate with overload protection, checking run-out and adjusting»(ref-289225-S28879057872008062700000) .
3. Removing and installing --> «Drive plate with overload protection, removing and installing»(ref-289225-S27234834422008062700000)

4 - Drive plate

1. Attached to compressor input shaft
2. With overload safeguard, triggers when torque is too-high (e.g. compressor produces friction) and drive shaft runs freely without driving the compressor.
3. Tightening torque 30 Nm
4. Removing and installing --> «Drive plate, removing from compressor and installing»(ref-289225-S38075963832008062700000)

5 - Rubber element

1. Decouples drive unit, dampens vibrations and noises.
2. When installing, coat rubber element lightly e.g. using soapy water (as sliding compound).
3. Removing and installing --> «Drive plate, removing from compressor and installing»(ref-289225-S38075963832008062700000)

6 - Spacer

1. The original disc must be installed
2. Dimensions: 17.5 x 10 x 3 mm

7 - Circlip

1. Replace
2. Install on proper side (level side to compressor)
3. Removing and installing --> «Drive plate with roller bearing, removing and installing»(ref-289225-S31581665702008062700000)

8 - Drive plate

1. With roller bearing.
2. Removing and installing --> «Drive plate with roller bearing, removing and installing»(ref-289225-S31581665702008062700000)
3. Clean compressor flange before sliding on drive plate.

9 - Compressor

1. Different versions may be installed, depending on engine version and country version of vehicle.
