Seat Upper Frame, Replacing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

1. Torque wrench V.A.G 1331/

Scheme 384

1 - Rivets (qty. 4)

2 - Bolts (qty. 8)

1. Tightening torque 20 Nm

3 - Seat pan

4 - Lower seat pan frame

5 - Seat pan upper frame with seat height adjustment motor

1. Removing

1. Remove seat --> «Seat, Removing and Installing»(ref-289222-S25865021782008062700000) .
2. Mount the fixture for seat repair VAS 6136 on the engine and transmission holder VAS 6095.
3. Attach the front seat to the fixture for seat repair VAS 6136.
4. Remove side trim on sill side --> «Side Trim, Sill Side, Removing and Installing»(ref-289222-S19657610332008062700000) .

1. Remove side trim on tunnel side --> «Side Trim, Tunnel Side, Removing and Installing»(ref-289222-S28797351182008062700000) .
2. Remove front trim --> «Front Trim, Removing and Installing»(ref-289222-S01077623482008062700000) .
3. Remove bracket for seat side panels --> «Seat Side Trim Bracket, Removing and Installing»(ref-289222-S00866980712008062700000) .
4. Remove the backrest --> «Front Backrest, Removing and Installing»(ref-289222-S01740973432008062700000) .

1. Remove cover and padding from seat pan --> «Front Seat Covers and Upholstery, Power Memory Seats»(ref-289222-S05850998472008062700000) .
2. Remove control module --> «Memory Seat/Steering Column Adjustment Control Module and Passenger Memory Seat Control Module, Removing and Installing»(ref-289222-S14080016222008062700000) .
3. Remove coupling holder --> «Connector Station, Removing and Installing»(ref-289222-S34878536482008062700000) .
4. Remove belt buckle --> «Belt Latch, Replacing»(ref-289222-S30920628182008062700000) .

1. Drill open rivets - 1 - (4x).
2. Remove bolts - 2 - (8x).
3. Disengage cable harness and harness connectors from seat pan and motors.
4. Replace upper frame of seat pan - 5 -.

1. Installing

1. Install upper seat pan frame - 5 - in reverse order of removal.

Note. The seat pan as genuine replacement part is supplied with a retaining clip and angle bracket for passenger occupant detection system for front passengers airbag deactivation (country versions). On vehicles without passenger occupant detection system for front passengers airbag deactivation (country versions), the components must be removed.

Note. The seat pan is depicted from below and without further attachments.
