Note. Replace sealing rings and O-rings.

Remove sealant residue on the upper oil pan and the cylinder block, for example using a rotating plastic brush.

Clean sealing surfaces, must be free of oil and grease.
Note. Note the expiration date of the sealing compound.
Cut the tube nozzle at the front marking (nozzle diameter approximately 1 mm).
Lay the seals -1- in the groove on the guide frame.

| CAUTION | The lubrication system could be plugged with excess sealant. Do not apply sealant bead thicker than indicated. |
Apply sealant beads -1 and 2- to the clean sealing surface on the upper oil pan as shown in the illustration.
Scheme 33
- Thickness of sealant beads: 2.5 mm.
Note. Install the upper oil pan within five minutes of applying the sealant.
Position the lower oil pan and tighten the bolts. see scheme 8
Install in reverse order of removal paying attention to the following
Install the oil pump. Refer to OIL PUMP, THROUGH VIN CAU 003 685 , OIL PUMP, FROM VIN CAU 003 686
Install the generator bracket. Refer to RIBBED BELT DRIVE OVERVIEW .
Install the generator. Refer to Removal and Installation .
Install the ribbed belt tensioning damper. Refer to RIBBED BELT TENSIONER .
Install timing chain lower cover. Refer to LOWER TIMING CHAIN COVER .
