Guide link, removing and installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

1. Engine/transmission jack V.A.G 1383 A

1. Ball joint puller T40010
2. Torque wrench V.A.G 1332

Removing

1. Remove wheel covers, remove cover cap on light-alloy wheels (removal hook in vehicle tool kit).
2. Remove wheel.
3. Secure brake disc with a wheel bolt.
4. Remove brake caliper and secure to body if ball joint puller T40010 cannot be installed.

Note. Install brake line bracket on brake caliper HP-2 before securing to body to avoid damaging brake lines. Secure brake caliper to body so that caliper weight does not stress or damage brake hose or brake line.

1. Remove nut from guide link joint pins enough so that it is flush with joint pin threads. Use 4 mm socket wrench to hold joint pin, if necessary.

1. Separate guide link joint pin from tapered seat using ball joint puller T40010.

Note. Do not damage protective joint boot when doing this! Ensure both puller lever arms are parallel to each other when using greatest force.

1. Place engine/transmission jack V.A.G 1383 A with wooden block under subframe and press lightly against.
2. Remove hex head bolts - 2 - and - 3 - on both sides.
3. Lower subframe slightly using engine/transmission jack V.A.G 1383 A.

Ensure brake line surface and underbody protection is not damaged!

Scheme 92

1. Remove hex bolt - 1 -.
2. Remove guide link.

Installing

Note. Bonded rubber bushings have a limited torsional range. Only tighten threaded connections at control links if vehicle is in curb weight position --> Wheel bearing, lifting to curb weight position

Scheme 93

1. Tighten nut on joint pin
2. Tighten hex head bolt - 2
3. Tighten hex head bolt - 3
4. Install brake caliper, if necessary. Refer to --> «46 - BRAKES - MECHANICAL COMPONENTS»(/audi/s4/b8-2008-2011/remont/anti-locktraction-control/#brake-system)

Remove hydraulic mount at control link

Note. Use protective covers when clamping aluminum control links.

Installation position of hydro-bushing

Arrow applied to hydraulic bushing - 1 - points in joint pin direction.

The permissible deviation is ± 5°.

Pull in hydro-bushing

1. Insert hydro-bushing - A - into special tool (3347/2).
2. Tighten together with sleeve - 3348 - , spindle -3346/2- and hex nut.
3. Pull in hydro-bushing - A - until it stops.
