WINDSHIELD ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW

Note. Before removing windshield, disconnect all electrical wiring to connectors if necessary and secure them to center of window with adhesive tape. On vehicles with lane change assist, the camera must be calibrated after replacing a window.

  1. Plenum Chamber Cover For new replacement windows, a protective piping is located in the retaining strip, which must be pulled off before installing plenum chamber cover. Press into fastening strip only after window adhesive curing time has elapsed.
  2. Drip Rail NOTE: The drip rail is also riveted to the fender. Drill out the rivet head. Press into clips to stop only after the minimum curing time for the adhesive. When pressing in drip rail, make sure sealing lip lies flat against windshield and does not slip behind edge of windshield.
  3. Windshield NOTE: Only windshields with viewing window for VIN are delivered. On vehicles without VIN in viewing window, this should be darkened with glass/paint primer D 009 200 02 on inner side of window before installing. Clean this area with cleaning solution D 009 401 04. Apply primer D 009 200 02 with applicator D 009 500 24 with a streak over entire viewing window. Prime the surface again after 10 minutes. Distance to roof dimension -a- = 2 mm + 1 mm, align side distances.
  4. Adhesive sealing material Observe curing times. Refer to «MINIMUM CURING TIMES»(ref-491819-S26977553802012073100000). Note varying spacing dimensions to window edge. Refer to adhesive sealing material -2-, see scheme 33.

Pull off protective piping from grip channel only after installing window.

Before installing plenum chamber cover, protective piping -1- must be pulled out of grip channel -2- of windshield -3-.

  1. Trim Clipped in before installing side window.
  2. Side Window Unclip trim molding before removing window. To install, insert window in lower D-pillar and side panel. Press window on C-pillar with clip -4- flush into body cut-out. Secure window in addition with adhesive tape.
  3. Adhesive Sealing Material Different distances to window edge Dimension -a- = 9 mm Dimension -B- = 10 mm Dimension -c- = 23 mm.
  4. Clip Is cut through when removing window.

  1. C-pillar Trim To remove, slide forward out of window.
  2. Side Window To remove window, unclip side panel trim molding -5-, trim molding -4- and trim panel -3-. -- Before installation, clip trim panel -3- and trim molding -4- into side window clips. To install, insert window in lower D-pillar and side panel. Press window on C-pillar with clip -4- flush into body cut-out. Secure window in addition with adhesive tape.
  3. Trim Before removal, side panel trim molding -5- and trim molding -4- removed. To remove, unclip in stages from clips

Remove the trim molding -1- from C-pillar beginning at clips -3- below side window molding -2-.

Remove the trim molding from the roof trim molding.

WARNINGTo prevent damage to paint when removing and installing trim molding, cover area below side window and on side panel using adhesive tape. Also, a slightly bent roof trim molding is damaged and must be replaced.

Note. Before removing side windows, disconnect all electrical wiring to connectors if necessary and secure them to center of window with adhesive tape.

  1. Rear Window
  2. Adhesive Sealing Material NOTE: Note different distances to window edge.
  3. Spacer
  4. Adhesive Stop Profile Must be adhered before window adhesive, near rear window heater distributing wire. Place inner edge of adhesive stop profile to outer edge of distributing wire for rear window heater and press on. Window adhesive must not contact window heating distributing wires when installed.
  5. Spacer No replacement part
  6. Spoiler with Top-Mounted Brake Light Must be removed when rear window is removed. Removal, refer to «REAR LID SPOILER ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW»(ref-491693-S15388132282012073100000)

  1. Door Window NOTE: Window regulator must be installed before installing window. Removal, refer to «FRONT DOOR WINDOW»(ref-491819-S07850616932012073100000)
  2. Window Regulator Door trim removed. Refer to «Removal and Installation»(ref-491662-S09482042252012073100000) . Cover -5- and speaker removed Before removal, remove door window. Only loosen upper nuts -4-. Remove lower nuts -4-. Remove window regulator upward from long holes.
  3. Door
  4. Nuts 6 Nm
  5. Cover Clipped in door.

  1. Door Window NOTE: Window regulator must be installed before installing window. Removal, refer to «REAR DOOR WINDOW»(ref-491819-S19484235762012073100000)
  2. Window Regulator Door trim removed. Refer to «Removal and Installation»(ref-491662-S09482042252012073100000) . The cover -6- and the speaker are removed. Before removal, remove door window. Only loosen upper nuts -4-. Remove the lower nuts -4-. Remove window regulator from the oblong holes.

  7. Window Guide Removed for replacing the window
