Adhesive Sealant, Removing from Window

Using Adhesive Remover D 002 000 10 is recommended. Always follow the safety precautions when using adhesive remover.

Paint Surfaces

Clean the painted surface with a dry cloth. Clean off any dirt with D 002 000 10.

Plastic Trim

Allow the adhesive sealant to harden (approximately 1 hour) and then peel it off.

Note. When removing rain sensor, a foil is detached from the sensor. This must be replaced before reinstalling.

Rearview mirror removed. Refer to Removal and Installation

1. Retaining plate -1
2. Rain sensor -2
3. Retaining clip -3

Disconnect electrical connector.

Press clip -2- outward at -arrows-, for example, with a small screwdriver.

Remove clips -2- from mirror base -1-.

Remove rain sensor -3- from mirror base.

A sensor foil remains affixed to the windshield.

If the same windshield is reinstalled, remove this completely from the windshield.

Clean the surface with cleaning solution D 009 401 04.

Installing Rain Sensor

Note. If the same rain sensor is reinstalled, proceed as described.

Remove the rest of the sensor foil from the rain sensor, if necessary.

Carefully peel sensor foil -2- from rain sensor -1-.

Clean the surface with cleaning solution D 009 401 04.

Peel silicon paper -3- from sensor foil -2-.

Scheme 33

The transparent protective film -1- remains on the sensor foil as an assembly aid.

With the help of the transparent protective foil -1-, place the sensor foil on the rain sensor -2-.

Press sensor foil with protective foil -1- onto rain sensor -2- without bubbles, as shown.

Scheme 35

Now remove transparent protective foil -1- from sensor foil -2-.

Scheme 36

Spray entire surface of sensor foil -1- with cleaning solution D 009 401 04 and insert sensor in mirror base.

Scheme 37

Press sensor clips on mirror base.

Replacing Rain Sensor

Note. To remove sensor, proceed as described above.

If necessary, completely remove foil remnants from windshield.

Clean sensor contact surface on windshield with cleaning solution D 009 401 04.

Scheme 38

Lightly press tabs -arrow- on protective cap -1- together and remove from rain sensor -2-.

Spray entire surface of sensor foil -1- with cleaning solution D 009 401 04 and insert sensor in mirror base.

Press sensor onto windshield without bubbles and place clips on mirror base.
