Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

1. Engine/transmission hoist VAG1526A
2. Engine/transmission hoist VAG1594A

1. Pry off covers using a screwdriver.

Scheme 796

1. Remove bolts (- arrows -) and remove cover for kick down switch.
2. Disconnect electrical harness connector.
3. Connect multimeter at kick down switch for resistance measurement.

Specified value: infinity ohms (no continuity)

1. Move accelerator pedal slowly in direction of Wide Open Throttle (WOT).

Shortly after kickdown point, resistance must drop to 0 ohms

If indications do not resemble description

1. Replace kick down switch --> «Kick Down Switch, Removing and Installing»(ref-289208-S03168075762008062700000) .
2. Erase DTC memory of Engine Control Module (ECM) --> «Diagnostic Mode 04 - Erase DTC Memory»(ref-289208-S38443625612008062700000) .
3. Generate readiness code --> «Readiness Code, Generating»(ref-289208-S31500925522008062700000) .
