Restrictor, removing and installing

  1. Remove plenum cover.
  2. Discharge A/C refrigerant system. See «A/C REFRIGERANT SYSTEM (R-134A), DISCHARGING»(/audi/a8/d2-1999-2002/remont/automatic-hvac-system/#air-conditioning__ac-refrigerant-system-r-134a-discharging).
  3. Disconnect refrigerant line at the threaded connection -A- Tightening torque: 15 Nm (11 ft lb)
  4. Use needle-nose pliers to pull restrictor -B- out of the refrigerant line. (Scheme 130)

CAUTIONImmediately plug open connections on A/C components and lines to prevent dirt and moisture contamination.

Note. Install restrictor -B- the right way round (arrow on restrictor faces toward evaporator). (Scheme 130) Make sure O-ring -C- is correctly located in the groove. (Scheme 130) The restrictor must be seated free of play in the refrigerant line. Lubricate O-ring lightly (of restrictor) before installing in refrigerant line. (Scheme 130) Replace O-ring -D-.
