Automatic Climate Control components in passenger compartment, servicing

  1. After performing repairs, always check and erase the DTC memory, perform basic setting and check coding of A/C control head -E87-.
  2. A/C system cooling performance: See «A/C REFRIGERANT SYSTEM, TESTING»(/audi/a8/d2-1999-2002/remont/automatic-hvac-system/#air-conditioning) .

  4. All components identified with an asterisk (*) are actuated during output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM).   6. The air outlets to the windshield (defrost) can only be replaced if the instrument panel is removed. Separate instrument panel and instrument panel cross member.

Note. The following list refers to items in (Scheme 68).

  1. Kick-down switch Depending on vehicle equipment and momentary vehicle speed, A/C clutch is switched off on acceleration by either Engine Control Module (ECM) or Transmission Control Module (TCM). NOTE: Vehicles with Nippondenso compressor may only have A/C control heads beginning with Index "C" installed. Depending on the equipment level of the vehicle, different versions of A/C control head -E87- are installed (with and without sensor for air quality, etc.).   12. Auto check system with outside air temperature display -G106-* Outside air temperature supplied by -E87- is only displayed when a Drive mode is engaged. For vehicles with A/C control head -E87- with part number as of index "M", the displayed temperature is calculated directly in the instrument cluster and displayed there with the selected unit of °C or °F. NOTE: If readout is faulty, test measured values of temperature sensors.
