Work procedure

  1. Tightening torque --> «Muffler, assembly overview»(/audi/a6/c6-2008-2011/remont/cooling-fan/#42l-v8-4v-engine-mechanical-engine-codes-bvj) .

  1. Check distance of end pipes at left and right to bumper cover
  1. Dimension - x - left = dimension - x - right.

If necessary, correct dimension "x" as follows

  1. Loosen threaded connections - arrow - of brace between exhaust pipes.
  2. Adjust distance between rear mufflers.
  3. Tighten bolts.

  1. Check distances - y - and - z - of end pipes to bumper cover
  1. Dimension - y - Sedan and Avant = 16.0 to 21.0 mm.
  2. Dimension - y - Allroad = 17.5 to 22.0 mm.
  3. Dimension - z - Sedan and Avant = 8.5 to 13.5 mm.
  4. Dimension - z - Avant S-line = 13.5 to 18.5 mm.
  1. Dimension - z - Allroad = -1.5 to 6.5 mm (end pipe is over).
  1. If end pipes cannot be aligned, check whether exhaust system is aligned tension-free --> «Exhaust system, installing free of tension»(/audi/a6/c6-2008-2011/remont/cooling-fan/#42l-v8-4v-engine-mechanical-engine-codes-bvj__exhaust-system-installing-free-of-tension) .

  1. Replace
  2. Lubricate with hot bolt paste; Hot bolt paste
  3.   1. Replace

4 - Securing strip

  1. Remains installed when removing exhaust manifold

5 - Nut

  1. Replace
  2. Lubricate with hot bolt paste; Hot bolt paste
  3. 25 Nm

7 - Nut
