INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR: TEMPERATURE VERSUS RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS

Note. If air temperature is in a range from 0 ° C to 20 ° C, the resistance value must be between 5 k and 2.4 k ohm

If specified value is not obtained

  1. Replace Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor.

Note. The engine speed (RPM) sensor detects RPM and reference marks. The engine cannot be started without a signal from the engine speed (RPM) sensor -G28-. If the engine speed (RPM) sensor -G28- signal fails while the engine is running, the engine will stop immediately.

Scheme 47: Test sequence
  1. Before performing test, check sensor for proper installation and proper fit.
  2. Disconnect harness connector for engine speed (RPM) sensor (identification: gray harness connector). (Scheme 47): Identifying Engine Speed (RPM) Sensor 3-Pin Connector Terminals
  3. Connect multimeter between terminal 2 and 3 for resistance measurement. Specification: 730 to 1000 ohm

Note. Resistance value of the engine speed (RPM) sensor is based on a temperature of 20 ° C. Resistance increases as temperature increases.

If specified value is not obtained

  1. Replace engine speed (RPM) sensor.

Scheme 48: Identifying Engine Speed (RPM) Sensor 3-Pin Connector Terminals
  1. Connect multimeter to terminals 2 and 1 (shielding) and to terminals 3 and 1 (shielding) for resistance measurement. Specification: INFINITY ohm each (no continuity)

If specified value is not obtained

  1. Replace engine speed (RPM) sensor.
