Access/Start Authorization Button E408 , removing and installing

Removing

  1. On vehicles with automatic transmission, place selector lever in position "S".
CAUTIONSwitch off all electrical components. Switch ignition off and remove ignition key.
  1. Reach from bottom into recesses into recesses at Climatronic Control Module J255 (control head).
  2. Pull Climatronic Control Module J255 (control head) out of mounting frame - arrows -.

Note. Electrical harness connectors do not need to be disconnected.

  1. Remove gap cover above ashtray - arrow -.
  1. Open front ashtray.
  2. Remove insert of front ashtray.
  3. Remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.
  4. Release ashtray - 3 - using a screwdriver - arrow - , attach screwdriver at opening - 4 - to do so.
  1. Remove housing of front ashtray.
  2. Disconnect electrical harness connector, if present.

  1. Reach through opening of ashtray and press out Access/Start Authorization Button E408 - 1 - - arrow -.
  2. Disconnect electrical harness connector.

Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.

Scheme 278: Selector Lever Transmission Range (TR) Position Display Y26 , removing and installing

Removing

  1. Place selector lever in position "N".
CAUTIONSwitch off all electrical components. Switch ignition off and remove ignition key.
  1. Unclip mounting frame for selector lever boot - 1 - from center console and lift it upward - arrows -.
  2. Fold selector lever boot upward.
  1. Release retaining spring - 2 - and remove Selector Lever Transmission Range (TR) Position Display Y26 - 1 - - arrow -.
  2. Disconnect electrical harness connector.

Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.
